I have had my Weed Dragon for a couple of weeks. I've used it on a gravel driveway infested by a variety of tough weeds. In past years, weeds have covered half the driveway surface by mid-June. I have used the Weed Dragon on this driveway twice. Most of the unwanted weeds and grass on the driveway are dead. The few survivors will receive another treatment to kill them. Once the weeds are all gone, I will put fresh gravel on the driveway, confident that, if more weeds emerge, I can kill them quickly with the Weed Dragon. I have the model with the squeeze trigger, which works fine. I find that keeping the nozzle and flame about a foot above the weed tops works the best. One caution: keep a garden hose or fire extinguisher close by when using the Weed Dragon--grass, twigs and needles will catch fire if you're not careful. A general-purpose hand truck with pneumatic tires works well for moving the 20-pound LP canister around as I work with the tool. Overall, I am quite pleased with the Weed Dragon.

Definitely a therapeutic way to get those weeds! Works best on recently watered weeds...steam cooks them down into the root. It says you could thaw pipes with this thing; I'd be very careful trying that as you are very likely to create a steam bomb in your pipe with the heat this puts out. I have no idea what you'd use the bigger 500,000 model for...burning through railroad ties? By far, the best tool in the shed! Just don't have too much fun or you'll find you have no gas left for your steaks!

The weed dragon is amazing! It was simple to connect to my propane tank and very easy to use. I was able to take care of the weeds in my front yard in 20-30 minutes. (It's kind of a big yard.) I love that I don't need to use chemicals, or hire someone to do the job anymore. I'm not sure what my neighbors thought of me shooting flames across the ground, but I kept my hose handy in case of any mishaps. I used a wagon instead of hand truck to maneuver my propane tank around the yard. When you squeeze the valve, the sound of the flame burst is kind of loud. When you release it, it is quiet again. The only (slight) disappointment is that I won't get to use it again for awhile ... the weeds are all dead.

This item does an very good job in eliminating weeds. However, it does produce a tremendous amount of heat, and you must be extremely careful when using near other plants.

Connecting to a previously owned barbecue propane tank was tricky. You made need to order additional fittings.

This torch works as advertised but is not a panacea for weeds because they will quickly re-sprout after burning. Also, the torch can not be safely used close to anything you don't want burned although I have found that a 6' by 2' tin shield allows much closer use to flower beds, fences, etc. All in all, I recommend the torch and would buy it again. Where it is effective, it is really effective.

We cleared a stone driveway overgrown with dense weeds quickly and efficiently. It is necessary to go back periodically and singe new weeds, but its easy and quick. The flame control feature is key to safety and reasonable gas usage. I have already recommened this tool to friends and family.

We live out in the desert of Southern California, with that in mind we don't grow grass in our yards we have rocks put in instead. Well this item works well in a dirt garden it does not work at all in a rock covered front yard. The Flame although extreamly hot it just can't penetrate to the roots. It also wants to fuse the rocks together. So if you have a rock coverd yard area this item is not for you! In other applications it is a great alternative to spraying chemicals and pesticides that can harm your animals or the enviroment.

I use this torch to weed patios & walks, driveway edges, weedy patches in a dirt & gravel drive, and in and around the garden beds. The pilot works by cracking open the valve knob on the handle. It rarely goes out - if it does (e.g., from wind), I just turn it up a bit. Opting for the version with the squeeze valve was definitely worthwhile for me, especially for spot weeding - no need to keep it on full burn when you're only using the flame 10% of the time. 100k BTUs is more than enough. In fact, when very close to ornamentals, I'll just leave it on pilot and toast the weed close up.

Stay away from mulched beds! I've had a couple of incidents where I went out later and the bed was smoldering!

I use a hand truck for my propane cylinder, which works fine for me.

The torch arrived in an unbelievably flimsy box with the torch loose inside. The box arrived completely mangled, though the torch was intact. The attached gas hose arrived cinched into a loop as you see in the product picture. It was a bit kinked where it attaches at the top of the torch, and this is the only reason for knocking a star off the rating. It needs a spring or other relief to prevent kinking.

This was my first time purchasing a torch for weed removal. I looked at several differnt types and models before purchasing this one. I'm overall pleased with the Red Dragon. At 100,000BTU this product is in a good zone. Frying up weeds is a simple chore. This is most effective for those weeds growing through those tiny little cracks between pavers, concrete and asphalt. It works great for lighting camp fires too! I'm hoping that this winter it will continue to remind me of its worth by helping me melt ice and snow also. For first time users, be very carefull of where you point the torch, have a fire extinguisher near, stay away from rubber and plastic such as the siding on your house. Amazon is always accurate, fast and efficent so buying this product through them made it a breeze. I would purchase again! Thank You!

I considered getting the 500k BTU unit but thought the use of propane would be excessive. This one uses enough but seems to be a good balance of speed and propoane use. Getting ready to order another one. :-)
