3.0 out of 5 stars An almost expected disappointment, April 19, 2006
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Dragonball GT: Transformation (Video Game)
As the anime of Dragonball Z was beyond fantastic, and the Dragonball GT anime was horrible, so the video games follow. This is a completely different game from Legacy Of Goku, so don't expect it to be similar in any way. The controls are almost completely different, and you don't even get to follow the entire story of GT. Instead you go from the start through the Lost Episodes version of the series, to the end of the Baby Saga. I doubt whether they're going to release a second game.

The graphics are fine, but now you are just side-scrolling through the levels. I liked it a lot better when it was more like an RPG, and you could explore every nook and cranny of the DBZ world. The cutscenes are terrible as well, they could have at least had real scenes, to make it more interesting.

The controls, as stated before, are completely different. You don't have multiple energy attacks, and now you can't use a signiture move without being at full energy. At least now you can jump, and gather energy. In this game you can also throw enemies, which makes the gameplay more fighting-based than story-based. You now have the option of executing combos, for more points (yet another thing I don't like about the game; points are now translated into Zenni in this game).

There are now extras in this game, which cost a lot of money (Zenni). This makes the gameplay repetitive, and boring. By the time you unlock everything you're sick of playing the game anyway. I also hate how you can't simply transform into any of the Super Saiyan forms. Instead you have to unlock them as separate characters, like in Dragonball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi.

Overall I would only suggest this game to people who have either not played the Legacy Of Goku games, people who loved Dragonball GT, but not DBZ (are there any people like that?), or die-hard fans of both series. Otherwise I'd just skip this game and buy the DBZ games, and the new Dragonball game.

4.0 out of 5 stars The DragonBallZ Game Every Fan Has Been Waiting For ***But Could Be Better***, August 21, 2005
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Dragonball GT: Transformation (Video Game)
This has been the DragonBallZ game that fans have been waiting for. The DragonBallZ game that gamers in Japan have been getting for years except the US. All previous titles were stupid 3D fighter games in the arcade clone likes of Street Fighter. A DragonBallZ game like that is so STUPID & repetitive!!!!!!! Fans wanna control their favorite characters in a more fun way besides a 1 on 1 fighter game. DragonBall FT: Transformation is a great side scroller beat em up game. Its just like Streets of Rage back on the old Sega Genesis. I believe DragonBallZ Sagas on the current PS2, GameCube, & XBox systems is the same as this game meaning its a action adventure beat em up side scroller. But i havent played that one yet so im not sure. Anyways this is like a Streets of Rage game. Story line is Goku gets turned into a kid by a accident from a wish that is made from a villian after he is in contact with all the DragonBalls. So Goku is on an adventure to collect the DragonBalls back & make his wish. The Balls have been scattered across 12 planets. So from my current playing status there are only 12 levels. On each planet u fight & than reach a boss & once u beat the boss u get a DragonBall. I wish there was more than just 1 stage on a planet. Because its just 1 stage & i know i will finish this game quit quickly. Every stage your on is a team of 3 players & can alternate & switch between the 3. There are a total of 9 playable characters & im sure some hidden ones 2. I've never been a fan of the cartoon because of the bad english language dubbing & i wanted 2 love the show so badly & it just never happened. But i always loved the beautiful artwork. Overall great game. Wish the levels were longer & had different stages in them. This game is beautiful & is pretty much what a Super Nintendo 32 bit game is. I wish they pushed this game to its very limits in terms of visual imagery. I wanted to see some nice animation sequences as if i was watching an episode but there were none. This is part 1 of a 2 game series. I guess the next one is coming soon probably at the end of the year or next year. I definately will buy it. I love this game & its great fun for the most part. Some minor flaws cause everyone wants 2 get their money's worth. Hopefully the next DragonBall GT game will be on the DS (Better be an action side scroller as well) & put some of that good 3D graphics to good use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best GBA Dragonball Game!, August 17, 2005
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Dragonball GT: Transformation (Video Game)
I bought this game expecting a legacy of Goku type deal but with DBGT characters instead. It's not that at all, in fact the best way I can describe it to you is Double Dragon but DBZ style. They did a great job with the graphics and the sounds not to mention all the unlockable content which gives it great replayability, such as characters, different game modes, extras, and my personal favorite a multiform for piccolo so that 3 other people can be piccolo and all play multiplayer at the same time. I reccomend this to all Dragonball fans, great way to spend your gaming hours until budokai Tenkachi comes out to. (Oh and my longest combo so far was 77) :)
