More About the Author

Ellen has spent most of her life teaching, writing or working with fabric, and now she's come to a point where all occupations blend. She grew up in Streator, IL and went to college at Knox College in Galesburg, Il and did some graduate studies at Boston State University. She began quilting in response to a gift from a neighbor who saved a quilt top from one of her mother's cleaning fits, and gave it to her, quilted, once she was grown. It was such an inspiration that she has been quilting ever since. She currently teaches for quilt guilds and conferences across the country, a series of fiber art courses called Thread Magic, covering all kinds of machine embroidery techniques for quilters. She lives at her studio in the Indiana Dunes area with four cats, Ivy Gray Grace, Ariane Growltiger, Nyamoto of the Iron Paw, and Hercule Pirot, detective way under cover, and three greyhounds, Carra, Candace Canis, and Bedelia Birdy Buttercup and Gryphon Raven's Wing, all of whom are all very involved with Ellen's work, and have long since taken over quality control.
Her book, Thread Magic- The Enchanted World of Ellen Anne Eddy, was republished by Quilting Arts. She has written for numerous fiber arts publications, including Quilting Arts, American Quilter, and Quilter's Newsletter, Threads and Fiber Arts. She's recently begun her own publishing house and has just published Dragonfly Sky, a step by step bobbin work project book, and Tigrey Leads the Parade, an embroidered story about her first greyhound, Tigrey, who was regularly chased by the whole town of Porter, Indiana, any time he ran away.

This newest art quilt book uses creative photos to illustrate in a easy step-by-step way how to make art quilts like Ellen Anne Eddy. The directions are clear and simple to follow. The many quilts shown in the gallery of quilts are inspirational, and offer one artist's masterful interpretation of whimsical textile art.

Dragonfly Sky is a great project book to help you unleash your inner artist. Ellen has given us a glimpse into her artistic world, and the techniques she uses to produce her work.

This is a well organised book, with great pictures that help lead you through the process of making an art quilt. Clear directions and great presentation of ideas.

The best example of how to do this kind of angelina fiber work, thread work, and working with stabilisers that I have ever read.

I look forward to more books from Ellen.

Fly high with Ellen as she leads you through the use of interesting fibers. Includes patterns and is well illustrated. Create machine embroidered dragonflies on your conventional zig zag sewing machine.

I purchased this book and like her other work, this book is beautiful. Dragonfly Sky gives the reader a play-by-play to create a wonderful design while setting into the creative world that Ellen brings to life in this book. If you love free motion machine embroidery, you will love this book. You can easily create artist, beautiful dragonflies for your quilts with this book. Don't miss the opportunity to enjoy and create with Ellen.

I was a little disappointed in the content - not much there. I have other Eddy books
which are wonderful.

This book provides a step by step guide to an intricate decorative machine stitching project, with clear pictures and text. Ellen Anne Eddy offers tips and suggestions to make this bobbin work technique work for your machine. I wish that the book was longer and included more photos of her quilts and more than one project.
