5.0 out of 5 stars 5 Stars isn't enough!, November 6, 1999
By A Customer
WOW! That's my initial reaction upon listening to this awesome soundtrack. The word awesome means "awe inspiring" and the main theme to Dragonheart does just that: inspire awe. Ever since I first heard the theme played during the "Mulan" promos, I fell in love with it, humming what little bit I heard, and basking in the granduer of it. I assumed it was from the movie "Mulan", but upon listening to some of the tracks I realized it wasn't. I was quite disapointed, and wondered where it came from. Them I heard it during a movie montage thing that showed before a lot of movies at the theatre, and it just teased me some more. I desperately wanted to find it, but had no idea where. Then, while online here at Amazon, and after reading the reviews, and seeing them mention the music was used in "Mulan" promos, I became very excited. Could this possibly be it? I quickly purchased it and eagerly awaited it's arrival. Imagine my joy upon hearing the majestic main theme that was so familier in my mind, playing out on the CD for the first time. It was great!

But anyway, about the CD. Just listening to the music makes my spirits soar, and brings up images of perserverance, triumph, and the "silver lining" in everything. If I'm in a foul mood or upset about something, this is where I'll turn. It is so uplifting. The main theme is repeated in various parts throughout the whole CD, in different ways. But that's fine with me, since it's so beautiful. There are really no annoying, "boom boom" action cues on it, which is another plus in my book. Tracks 1, 2, and 15 are the best, but the rest of it is really good as well. Tracks 1 and 2 kind of introduce two themes, and then track 15 brings them together in an awesome piece of music. I have listened to this CD so much since I got it, and am in fact doing so right now. I have about 50 soundtracks, and this one jumped up to at least #2, if not #1 immediately, so that's saying something. (The other one that's right up there is "Rudy" by the way, if you are interested in more beautiful music.) I could go on forever, but I won't, since you get the point, and everybody else has echoed these sentiments anyway. But I definitely say: GET THIS SOUNDTRACK! And prepare to be uplifted. Thanks so much Amazon, and all you other reviewers for leading me to CD this after all these years of longing for it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!!!, June 24, 2002
This soundtrack is... probably... more than probably... my favourite ever. And no matter what else may come along, it will always hold a special place in my heart as it really introduced me, age 12 or whatever, to the world of film music - in the best possible way. I watched the movie, loved it, read the book, watched the movie again, realised just where That Tune that had been going around in my head for years was from and thought "I love this music!!!" and went on a desperate search for the CD.

My only complaint about the soundtrack CD would be that the tracks are out of order. And there is that rumoured fifteen minutes or so of music from the movie that just doesn't make an appearance. That's not highly unusual, but it is annoying if you love the music as much as I do...

The "To The Stars" theme is just magic. As everyone knows :) You'll probably find it familiar - it features on the trailers of -several- other films. Apart from the alternately heroic/heartbreaking main theme, there are many other memorable tunes or motifs, ranging, like the film, from cute, lighthearted and amusing to rather dark and serious. It's a very tonal, tuneful soundtrack that most everyone will like/love and respond to. Film score boffs will largely cite it as a successful example of incorporation of some synthy elements into an orchestral score. I think it's probably perfectly capable of standing alone, but if you've seen the movie, it will definitely bring back some very clear memories...

5.0 out of 5 stars A long lasting favorite!, June 12, 2001
By Marcus (Sweden) - See all my reviews
When I saw the movie I cried a couple of times, much due to the music that accompanied the finale. Not often have I seen a movie that touched me like Dragonheart did. After seeing the movie I started to search for the songs on the net and I found all of them and I listened to them, often, remembering the scenes that made me cry, in sorrow and in happiness. But, as you probably know, Mp3:s don't have the quality to fully reproduce the true quality of a CD so I decided to get it. It had never been released where I live so I had to order it from America, and it got expensive but still I think that buying it was the best decision I ever made, it's that good. Randy Edelman is the true master among the soundtrack-composers.
