This is the comic adaption of the third part of the Dragonlance Chronicles Trilogy, first published in 1984. Unlike the first two adaptions, this one was split up into two parts.
While the first two adaptions were exclusively drawn by Kurth, this comic is drawn by three other artists. I do not think this was a good idea, consistence would have been better. Furthermore one of the new artists has a style which is a little bit too comic-like.
Moreover the pages are framed. In the previous books they were fully printed, which I felt was artistically more appealing.
Nevertheless the drawings are good and the story adaption by Dabb is still worth a compliment.

The Dragonlance novels by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman are loved by huge numbers of fans, and the stories have basically formed a world of their own. The books are well written. The characters are memorable, and the action is nonstop. The books are great fun to read.

I'm sure the graphic novels of Dragonlance are less well known, but they are also extremely well done and great fun to read. As listed below, the saga starts with the three volumes of Chronicles and then moves on to Legends.

Legends: Time of the Twins

The illustrations in the graphic novels are outstanding and seemed to fit fine with the pictures I had formed in my mind of the various characters. The action sequences stand up to scrutiny by the reader, and dragons are all over the place. However, reading these books cannot possibly be the same as reading the originals. The graphic format has its limitations, so the depth of the original stories is not here but the spirit certainly is. I recommend the books highly to all Dragonlance fans. Please keep in mind that you should read the novels first. Otherwise, keeping track of the action in the stories could be difficult.

One unfortunate note is that Time of the Twins may be the only volume published in graphic format from Legends. My understanding is that the publisher has no plans to put out succeeding books from Legends. That is too bad.

Andrew Dabb adapted this epic masterfully and he still manages to transmit the scale, peril and drama of this story arc. "Dragons of Spring Dawning" is far more dramatic then the former books in the series, filled with betrayal and loss. In this adaptation Dabb explored those facets with skill.

With this compilation you will also get a very good cover gallery with art from masters like Tyler Walpole or Jeremy Roberts among others.

If judged by itself this book would be worthy of more stars, but the sense of continuity is completely broken with the change in art style and even page design! Although the new artists give a new perspective, it clashes too much with the two previous volumes, and sincerely it would be very difficult to measure up with the fabulous quality standard of the first two books.

It is a good read and a great adaptation of the first part of "Dragons of Spring Dawning". Comics are a different art form than novels, and graphic design and the quality of penciling is of prime importance for any comic book, hence the three star rating.

I fell in love with the character in these books, especially Taz, the Kinder. I wish there was a new series of books all bout Taz and his adventures. Flint, Tanis, Ristlin and Cameron all are wonderful characters and I know everyone would go nuts to get their hands on a new series featuring Taz. He is a hero, a kind hearted and loving person that make the Dragonlance series a real stand out. Maybe Taz could somehow develop magical powers from the Gods and save Solace and his friends from a new evil. Say it was a evil wizard from an alternate universe that has powers never seen before, that puts the freeze on Taz's worldhttp://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1932796959/ref=cm_cr_rev_prod_img. Taz is granted magical powers for a time and unites with his friends and the Dragons to battle the new evil wizard and save his world. Go out of the box just a little and you could create a masterpiece of fantasy. I have read almost every book in the Dragonlace series and I am craving a new trilogy with Tas and friends. What's to say? I LOVE THIS SERIES.

I loved the Dragonlance Chronicles when they first came out (I bought my copy of Dragons of Autumn Twilight in 1984). I still judge all Dungeons & Dragons novels (and others of its genre, game-related fantasy) by this series. This is a faithful adaptation with excellent artwork.

My only criticism is a relatively small one, and not about the book itself: it is not easily available. I ordered it three separate times on Amazon (starting with an early pre-order) before Amazon actually got one in stock for me (twice Amazon cancelled the order, because they couldn't get the item in stock in a reasonable time frame).

Devil's Due Publishing is doing a great job with this series, as they have with the Drizzt novels. I hope they keep going!
