5.0 out of 5 stars Just wow... a faithful adaptation.
This graphic novel is beautifully done. The artists paint in pictures what Weis and Hickman did with words all those years ago. Devil's Due deserves a lot of credit for getting quality artists who have stayed true to the story of Dragonlance. I'm really getting stoked for the first movie, out in September.

3.0 out of 5 stars Brief Note
I bought this book because the Dragonlance Chronicles were the first fantasy books I read. I was quite young then so i loved them. so, now that the comic book is out, i thought "why not?". when i received it, my first thoughts were this could be quite an interesting experience. and it was. the artwork is very good quality, the story of course and the binding of the book...

3.0 out of 5 stars Brief Note, November 18, 2007
This review is from: Dragonlance - Chronicles Volume 2: Dragons Of Winter Night (Dragonlance Novel: Dragonlance Chronicles) (v. 2) (Paperback)
I bought this book because the Dragonlance Chronicles were the first fantasy books I read. I was quite young then so i loved them. so, now that the comic book is out, i thought "why not?". when i received it, my first thoughts were this could be quite an interesting experience. and it was. the artwork is very good quality, the story of course and the binding of the book is good (i am sort of a "keep your books in good condition freak"). i did find a problem though. in my opinion, the depiction of Raistlin and a couple of others isn't as good as i hoped. now dont get me wrong, its great but its not the way i thought of him. Raistlin is my favorite character in the books so that sort of disappointed me a bit. anyways, that told, i believe it is a must for any dragonlance fan and i recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Adaptation of the Original Novel, January 2, 2012
In the "Annotated Chronicles," the two main shapers of the Dragonlance saga--Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman--note that "Dragons of Winter Night" is their favorite book in the trilogy. The team behind DDP's graphic novel adaptation of that book do a solid job in presenting the story in a new format.

DDP`s team does a much better job in "Dragons of Winter Night" than they did in "Dragons of Autumn Twilight." Andrew Dabb does a find job of putting the novel in a comic format. Some of his narrative techniques--while taken from the original novel--are very well done. Dabb does a commendable job in taking the book and putting it a graphic novel. Steve Kurth does a fine job with the penciling. The coloring is much better this time around than in "Autumn Night." While three people helped Nei Ruffino with the colors, the coloring is much more consistent here than in the earlier version.

DDP did a very fine job here--and fans of fantasy adventure and the original novels will not be disappointed by this faithful adaptation.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dynamic and Dramatic (a pun to D&D), July 5, 2011
By
This review is from: Dragonlance - Chronicles Volume 2: Dragons Of Winter Night (Dragonlance Novel: Dragonlance Chronicles) (v. 2) (Paperback)
This is the second book in the series, and a great tale of fantasy fiction. The winter here represented isn't only in a meteorological sense but also about the cold of despair and fear.

The comic adaptation is superb, and my comments on the first compilation of this series also apply here. The art is very good but again somewhat variable...sometimes almost photo realism, others quite sketchy; but always conveying a sense of movement, speed and adequate drama.

Hardened fantasy veterans will find many stereotypes in this series, but please remember: many of those stereotypes were created or consolidated by the same novels this adaptation is based upon.

This is a great way to experience a voyage to the worlds of Weis and Hickman and to epic fantasy filled with heroism and sacrifice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Impressive, November 25, 2008
This review is from: Dragonlance - Chronicles Volume 2: Dragons Of Winter Night (Dragonlance Novel: Dragonlance Chronicles) (v. 2) (Paperback)
The second part of the comic-adaption of the Dragonlance Chronicles continues with the same high quality the first part did.
The whole graphic novel is drawn by Kurth, who is a very talented artist. The characters appear very realistic and are not extensively beautiful or handsome. This book does not appear comic-like or childish at all.
The pages do not have any frames, the pictures take up the whole page. Very nice to the eye.
As with the first part a further compliment goes to Dabb (adaption of the story). Though the story had to be shortened, everything is there. This makes this comic as well suitable for people who do not know the novel.
Furthermore the comic is quite thick, so there is entertainment for quite some time.
Let's hope the good standarts are held up with the third part.
