Magnificent,

This review is from: Dragons of War (Bazil Broketail) (Paperback)
This was by far the best of the Bazil Broketail series. The newer stories have lost the innocence that Bazil and Relkin had but this story imbodies the perfect time in thier life. They had seen the horrors of war and the ability of the Dark Masters but still retained some idealism and even love. Rowley didn't over play the love story but in later stories he either underplayed it or made almost childlike in comparison to his earlier masterpieces. Dragons of War shows us what war was like in our middle ages with the great ability of Rowley to throw in love, mystery, revenge, poower, fantasy, magic, and best of all his great dragon portrayal without wings or fire, but as soldiers in a war and invasion of those that would destroy the centuries of work the cities of Argonath have worked so hard to build.

The Battledragon's War,
By Jorge Jacobs (Phoenix, AZ USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dragons of War (Bazil Broketail) (Paperback)
This was the first book by Rowley that I read, and it was totally awesome! I've read this book too many times to conveniently say, and that's unnatural, even for me. I've now read all but one of Rowley's books, which is the one that comes after this one. The title is "Battledragon", and I haven't been able to find it anywhere. This book is worth the money. Trust me.

WOW!,

May be the longest book in the series, but also the best! Full of action, character development, and great POV. An amazing effort, but start with the first one, Chektor...

I've read all the books from the Broketail series and this is the best of all of them even the new one. With new characters and much excitment. I do suggest you read the 2 books in the series that come before so you understand it better. I thoroughly recommand this book.

Great Book!,
This review is from: Dragons of War (Bazil Broketail) (Paperback)
Of all the fantasy books that I have read that writes about Dragons, this is the best. Rowley has created a story that is at once full of humor, and at the same time serious. He has created a story that explored the bond that exists between a dragon and an orphan boy throughout all their adventures.

A great example of the genius of Rowley,

Christopher Rowley triumphs again with this spectacular fantasy-war novel. The witches of Cunfshon must defend Argonath from the assalts of the masters of Padmasa, the witches using the Dragon Legions, and the masters attacking with hordes of imps, trolls, and the monstorous ogres. Overall a great book.

This was the first book I got in the Bazil Broketail series - and I was enthralled. Of course, I had to skip the first chapter to get past the boring story of Thrembode in Padmasa, but after reading this book, I was firmly hooked. I own every book in this series and have worn 2 sets of them out and I'm working on my third now. I could say that I've read each book approximately 100 times each - yes, they are THAT good. The entire series is excellent, and if you like fantasy stories or novels that make you laugh and cry - these are the ones for you.

I was little disapointed,
This review is from: Dragons of War (Bazil Broketail) (Paperback)
I read this book in a few weeks. it wasnt as good as i thought it was going to be. If you read it you'll understand what i mean. but i like how it shows that relkin grew up a little bit. and how he looks at the yopunger boys and how he remembered what it was like in his first battle. but i have to say i hope the next book is better

Characters not unlike soggy cardboard,
By A Customer
This review is from: Dragons of War (Bazil Broketail) (Paperback)
Okay, this is the first book I've read in the series, and I can only assume that the characters are characterized in the other books. However, I can safely say that little character development takes place in this one. The main evil archnemsis wizard does absolutely nothing important and has no character traits in the entire book. He's not even the <adjective> <noun> like "The cunning wizard" or "The brave warrior" he's just the wizard and I suppose you could add the adjective evil because he's technically evil, though the only way you would know that is because he's on the bad guys' side, or through presumably reading the earlier books. This book is packed with names of cities which are totally irrelivant because there is no map given. I counted 33 different proper nouns on <i>one page</i>. My favorite was Zebulpator, which is a star that is supposed to be an ill omen but that name just had me laughing as soon as I saw it. Basically the book is a couple hundred pages of military strategy. I'm not interested in military strategy in real life and I'm doubly not interested in military strategy in fantasy. I suggest Caesar's Gaelic Wars or something similar instead of this book. There is also a small amount of completely irrelivant politics and some truly incomprehensible phrasing. Another highlight of this book is the random switching on and off of accents in the Clan Wattel and the interchangable usage of "wyvern" and "dragon", despite the two words being clearly defined in the book. (Dragons have wings, wyverns don't.) The only thing I can recommend about this book is that it would be an invaluable resource to people interested in the logistics of wyverns using tailswords.
