More About the Author
Marty is from a family of artists going back several generations. Raised in Santa Barbara, she pursued her creative interests from an early age, settling on the batik technique in the early 60's. From simple pieces the work grew into very detailed paintings earning her a reputation is area galleries as well as in the illustration field. In 1980 she switched to watercolor and pursued opportunities with art publishing firms and has since enjoyed seeing her designs used as book illustration, posters, puzzles, greeting cards, plate designs and calendars. Her primary focus in the last 15 years has been as an illustrator for Dover Publications where she has had 230 books published that include a series of coloring books of many of the famous painters and art movements as well as a variety of design and activity books for artists and children, Marty lives in Anna Maria Florida, where she finds continual inspiration for her current series of photo art prints. Her passion for photography and mastery of computer art programs have enabled her to marry the two in her recent print series depicting the natural beauty of southern Florida

Dragons for the Rest of Us,

In my guise as a woodworker, I occasionally dream of covering panels with intricate carvings that will make the work even more exceptional. One of the problems for those like I, who have never quite managed the leap to freehand drawing, is finding images that can be translated into a design. If on your work there would be dragons, here are 120 graphic line drawings that will keep knife, or pen, or needle busy for some time.
For all that covers change over the years, Dover's many collection have changed little. They are clip art from the era before clip art had been invented.. Tall, thin, and of unexceptional quality, they make up for their flaws by being delightfully inexpensive. They are intended as inspiration and as sourcebooks, and as such they have succeed for a very long time.

These dont have color but I bought them for the patterns..to use parts of this one and parts of that one on tracing paper to come up with my own dragons..the pictures are very good quality..and for any dragon lover or artist.Its well worth adding to the library...B.W.

Sorely Disappointed - Duplicate Book Different Title,

I ordered this book and a book called Dragons and Wizards. When I started to look through Dragons:A Book of Designs, I was sorely disappointed. Everything in this book is in the Dragons and Wizards CD-ROM and Book except the Wizards one had additional media in it. I feel like I paid twice for the same book. BEWARE, THIS IS A LESSER DUPLICATE!
