This review is from: Dragon's Egg (Paperback)
This book is action-packed and exciting. With the fantasy world of dragon's and people together, and then the "mission" to save "the egg"--wonderfully a page turner. I find myself, as I'm reading it to my 3rd grader, saying "okay just one more chapter"-- and then when that chapter is done, reading on silently-- my son quickly says "mom!! keep reading!!" Read it together.....

My son and I read this book. It was really a fun read. Great story teller. Please write more books.
If you liked the Fablehaven, Potter, and fantasy books, read this too!

Could have used a bit more,

This was a fun childrens story. Nice developement, tho it could have used more.
More about "Lady", More about Gwyns history, More about Damians pendent, More about Coels betrayal, which would lead to: More about why the little wild dragons survived. Also, while there was plenty of "closure" with Rogers return, we were left on the side of the road with Mellas ultimate return home. How was she welcomed home, not only by her parents, but also by her herd. I know this was a childrens book but, in my opinion, that's no reason to leave so many questions. Now, if there were a sequel in the works,.....

Mella is a keeper. This means she can understand and take care of dragons, a rare gift. The only dragons she's ever known were the little herds of farm dragons, who are kept mostly for their delicious eggs.
One day Mella overhears a stranger at her family inn talking about true dragons and their wild, huge, and brilliant colored tails. The stranger claims to be a member of the Order of the Defenders, a group of knights who protect the land from true dragons. He says there is a dragon around the inn that he is searching for. Mella's mother sends her to the forest to collect herbs and while she is there Mella discovers a dragon protecting a dragon's egg. The Order of Defenders wounded the dragon and it is dying. Desperate, the dragon entrusts its egg to Mella and tells her to go to the sacred hatching ground. So with the help of Roger, the knight from the Order's squire, she sets off to bring the egg to safety. I really liked Dragon's Egg because of the descriptions and the setting of the book. I haven't read any other books by Sarah L. Thomson, but I know she has a few more books out that I am eager to read. I loved the cover of this book, too. E @ 3 Book Bees Originally posted @ [...]

Dragon's Egg is a wonderful fantasy and adventure novel that is so much more! It is also a coming-of-age story and the character development is wonderful...I would especially recommend this book to 4th - 8th graders.

Not Very Original,
By
This review is from: Dragon's Egg (Hardcover)
When I saw this book at the library, I thought, Good Grief! Another book about dragons. How original. There's only a zillion books out there about dragons. And another zillion books about a protagonist who finds a dragon's egg. But I thought since the editor had been an editor at a publishing company, maybe it would be good. It was VERY AVERAGE. The plot was definitely not original. The characters I've seen in other books. The dialogue was unoriginal. The ending wasn't very good. The book should have been edited better. Parts of it were boring and I skipped them. Just because you're an ex-editor doesn't mean you can come up with a good story. I won't be reading this author again.
