Book Description

Silhouette Nocturne (Numbered) February 1, 2009

When his family's nemesis tries to find a book of Druidic-elder spells, Druid Braeden Drake and his estranged wife, Alexia, must unite to prevent the evil force from unleashing a supreme reign of terror. But having Alexia return to Dragon's Lair brings along another set of troubles. For not only does she make him senseless with desire, she's also being followed by the enemy.

Though tragedy once drove them apart, Alexia didn't count on her return igniting so many powerful emotions. But as each dark night descends, revisiting the marriage bed is a temptation she finds more and more difficult to resist. All too soon Alexia realizes her heart is as much at risk as her life....

5.0 out of 5 stars A dragon and his mate reunited, February 5, 2009
This review is from: Dragon's Lair (Silhouette Nocturne (Numbered)) (Mass Market Paperback)
Most Nocturnes have featured couples finding a new love, but this is one of the few that present an estranged couple rekindling their passion. And on this passion, the fate of a family gifted in magical talents and even the fate of the world depend.

Alexia Reve-Drake and her Druid husband Braeden Drake have tried going their separate ways, after a misunderstanding following a car accident that injured Alexia and claimed the life of their unborn son, as well as Alexia's own misguided tampering with a grimoire which Braeden has tried to keep hidden from the more dangerous branch of his magically gifted family. But when Alexia's townhouse is torched by mysterious assailants, and a stranger sends her a packet containing what appear to be missing pages from the grimoire, she has only one person she can turn to for support and protection, and yet his wounded pride and heart may not allow him to give her what she needs, until the two of them can work together to disclose and disarm these attackers...

An intense, even dark atmosphere hovers around this story, darkening the shadows evn more than the brooding castles and the magical subterfuge at work. There is a real feeling of menace that threatens this couple and their own mistrust of each other is palpable. You get the feeling that as dangerous as Braeden's more malevolent kin may be, the real struggle is against the darkness in the hearts of this couple. Their pain and their attempts to rebuild their relationship are very real: you want to see them back together and you want to see their love rekindled. Their dance of attraction and distrust around each other leaves you breathless with hope. This is definitely one Nocturne well worth re-reading!

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent romantic fantasy, February 3, 2009
This review is from: Dragon's Lair (Silhouette Nocturne (Numbered)) (Mass Market Paperback)
The men refuse to take no for an answer as they demand Alexia Reve-Drake translate an ancient Druid manuscript. Instead she flees to what she believes might be her only haven, the home of her estranged Druid husband Braeden.

He not only vows to protect his wife whom he still loves, but also work with her to prevent a disaster. They must stop Nathan the Learned, an evil ancient wizard, from using the ancient manuscript that contains Druidic magical spells, which will enable him to obtain power; something he has coveted since the twelfth century. If they fail to stop him, he not only will kill them once she completes his demand, Nathan will devour the world. Their only true chances lie with their love for one another if they freely embrace that and can control the inopportune lust, and with a dying incarcerated wizard, whom the Drakes are unaware that he exists.

This is an excellent romantic fantasy starring a wonderful lead couple caught in a great premise. They each feel their relationship suffers from a weird sexual bi-polar syndrome as they bounce from euphoric passion to abject loathing and back in an instant; neither is cognizant that their sudden uncontrollable desire seems to occur whenever they begin to translate the tome. Lacking restraint makes for a fun tale that sub-genre fans will relish as the powerful battle to control the Druidic spell book starts with a need for the lead couple to find a way to restrict their extremes so they can work as a team.
