kick-butt urban fantasy,
This review is from: Dragons Prefer Blondes (Mass Market Paperback)
Socialite Alex Caruthers lives a dual life. First she runs nightclubs around the globe and second she is a dragon slayer Guardian, hunting down the Ahi predators who attack humans. Her world is filled with no free moments for romance beyond a quickie and the irony of believing only a crazy person would become a Guardian.
Dragon warrior Ginjin stuns her when he declares her to be his soulmate. They have not had what might loosely call an amiable relationship as he has tried to kill her on several occasions. She informs her new paramour that he is too late. She insists she is already in a heated relationship with the head of security, Jake before she is forced by powers much greater than her to accept her enemy as her bed partner. The only problem with the queen of one night trysts is Jake raises her desire way beyond that of the heat any dragon can muster. The latest Caruthers sisters' kick-butt urban fantasy (see THE DEMON KING AND I) is fast-paced and filled with plenty of action as readers will enjoy the heroine's musing asides re life's unfair complexities. Alex feels like she jumped from the fry pan into the fire after she announces Jake as her fiancé whose kiss heats her soul (let alone her body). Filled with jocularity, Candace Havens provides another entertaining romp as dragons may prefer blondes, but this blonde prefers a human hunk. Harriet Klausner

I've never read anything else from the author however this book seemed to be the offshoot of a well established series given how she kept mentioning other characters and going on and on about how great they are and what they've done. The character development was zilch and the romance seemed spring upon the two leads. And the dragon does not really play a part in any of it-and I honestly felt HIS character was more developed! The dragon speaks for about a solid paragraph but in that one paragraph I feel real credible emotions and a good background is established. In comparison the heroine is boring as is her partner. Everything seem straight out of fantasy barbie for them. And I do mean everything. Boring read, waste of my money.

I really love this series! It is fun, light, easy to read, and then men are always just so darn hot. The Caruther sisters are smart, capable, stubborn, and can kick some *ss in their Guardian roles. They are all very well balanced with 2 careers (far more than I would be) and even though they are all drop dead gorgeous, they seem to have the same insecurities all us normal gals have. Favorite things about this book: The Dragons are nasty, the leading guy is smart/sexy/vulnerable, the addition of one very cool "granddad" type, and some very naughty dragons. Also, I am hoping in future books we get more Death, he just seems like a great character to get to know.
Really if you love fun, snarky humor with kick butt leading ladies, smart handsome men, and a whole slew of otherworldly problems this is a great series to read.

Candace Havens has a witty, trendy, upbeat voice as she pens the adventures of the paparazzi-hounded, fashionistas, the Caruthers Sisters. The four sisters are celebrities, but they are also guardians against all kinds of supernatural shinanigans. If you like your paranormal romance a little more light-hearted, then this series is for you.
Dragons Prefer Blondes was my first Caruthers Sisters novel, but it was such a fun read that I plan to go back and buy the first one. And I'm looking forward to the next release as well.

The series about the Caruthers is fun packed and full of adventure. They protect the earth from other worldly creatures but evil has find its way to all points in all the universes. Hard to keep up with destroying what needs to be gotten ride it. Read it. You'll have fun with a good diversion from the very real problems we have now in our world.

Thoroughly Enjoyable,
This review is from: Dragons Prefer Blondes (Mass Market Paperback)
I read this book all in one sitting while on a three hour flight. I totally loved Alex and her sisters (also loved the Demon King and I). The romance was steamy hot, the heroine someone I'd be friends with, and the supporting characters (such as the elderly mage) were fascinating. All in all, a fantastic bit of entertainment. I'm looking forward to the next one!
