4.0 out of 5 stars 3 old books in 1 new book
I preordered this book without realizing that it was a collection of 3 old books (Dragonsdawn, Dragonseye, and Moreta). Unfortunately, I had read all but one already. I would suggest getting the book to anyone who has NOT read at least 2 of these but otherwise it isn't worth it.

Don't mistakenly think this is anything new. It really burns me when publishers do this. This is: Dragonsdawn, Dragonseye, and Moreta repackaged. In tiny fine print at the very bottom of the cover.

4.0 out of 5 stars Still a great book., December 1, 2003
This review is from: On Dragonwings (Paperback)
Don't be fooled, this is three old books stuffed into a new cover. Die-hard McCaffery fans beware: don't buy this one if you own all the others!

But people new to the Dragonriders of Pern series? It's a great, inexpensive way to get the backstory on all your favorite characters! It's a terrific story about survival and friendship. I recommend it.

For you people that have read all the books and are looking for something new: Dragon's Kin, by Anne McCaffery just came out (I'm writing this Dec. 2003) and go check out that one! Haven't read it yet, but it sounds great and I'm looking forward to it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Pern Fans, February 15, 2006

I could read that this was three books in one quite clearly. It's a very good idea for any old Dragonriders fan whose books are falling apart- or for anyone new to the series to get some background on the characters

1.0 out of 5 stars three old novels recycled, December 24, 2011

Yet another attempt by the publisher to milk a franchise. There is no way on earth that I would ever pay $16 for recycled paperbacks. Ms. M. would be ashamed.

5.0 out of 5 stars If your old copies are falling apart this is for you!, February 19, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: On Dragonwings (Paperback)
After 20 years of reading and re-reading my favorite Pern novels my books have become quite tattered and worn. They desperately need replacement so I came to Amazon. Having three books published together under one cover is great for me. The only thing I wish is that I could get them in hardcover.

I can't belive people don't read the dectription before buying. It is NOT in "fine print" saying its an antholigy. I purchased this because it was all three books, as my orgional copies are much worse for wear.

5.0 out of 5 stars Omnibus excellence, January 25, 2012
This review is from: On Dragonwings (Paperback)
"On Dragonwings", like "Dragonriders of Pern" and "Harper Hall of Pern" before it, is an omnibus. It covers the Dragonsdawn, Dragonseye, and Moreta stories. The joy of these books is that you can take an entire slice of the Pern world with you neatly compacted into a single novel. I find these most useful when introducing somebody to the series for the first time. If the person likes Science Fiction than this omnibus throws them right into the first landing on Pern, and all the technology that goes with it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Don't Be Disappointed, September 19, 2011
This review is from: On Dragonwings (Paperback)
This book makes for an excellent read. For people like me who go through books like air, but don't want to carry multiple books on their person, having three rolled into one is a blessing. I can enjoy more than one story or pick and choose what I want to read from it. Anne McCaffrey has never disappointed me with her work.

Also, I'd just like to put this out there: I've noticed at least 3 comments thus far complaining about how this is 3 books rolled into one. Yes. It is. And if you avid readers had simply read the description (or if you bought it in-store, read a bit of it in there before blindly purchasing) you would have realized that it says there are three different stories.
