Summary: Cruor is dead. Drake is in the Witherlands. And now Raven Grey is stuck in the elves' palace. Desperate to escape, Raven makes a promise with the elf princess and leaves, searching for Drake. But things are not so easy. Drake struggles to hold on to Raven while fighting off a man he loathes. And now someone is hunting the Dark Royalty. Is anyone safe? Can Drake hold on to his life and Raven's?
What I Liked: Drake of Tanith has a beautiful flow to the story. The prose is meticulous, making the plot swift and entertaining. The characters are three-dimensional and all very likable. I was not a huge fan of Drake in The Chosen Soul, but now it's all Drake. I like the change in pace of the story, and the addition of several other plotlines to follow. This book had a way of capturing my attention and keeping me interested throughout every part.
What I Did Not Like: I honestly cannot find something that I did not like with this book. It was near-flawless. I suppose the thing I do not like about this book is that I have to wait for the next one.
Would I Recommend It: Most definitely. I loved this book a million times more than I liked The Chosen Soul, and I loved The Chosen Soul. This book was so thorough and had me reading down to the last page. You will not want to put it down until the last word. I'm a teen, and I would say that this book is for upper teens and adults.
Rating: 5 stars. This was a great book. I can't wait for the next one.
Another captivating read by Ms. Killough-Walden! :)
"The Chosen Soul" was the very first book I read by author Heather Killough-Walden. It was her first book I recommended and I have gotten rave enthusiasm from everyone I've ever told about this book. They now come to me for book suggestions and I have recommended every one of Heather's books. Needless to say, I've been on pins and needles for this sequel since the beginning, and of course, I have recommended it to everyone I know. I read and re-read "The Chosen Soul" so I could be up to speed on everything that would happen in "Drake of Tanith" I have to tell you, I was not disappointed in the least.
"Drake of Tanith" picks up a month after the end of "The Chosen Soul". Of course your wondering what happened in that month. You wonder if you'll ever see Drake again for Raven's sake. Its amazing how the author can take you from realm to realm and describe everything so vividly that you could swear you've either been there before or your standing there now. That's how it is when you read Drake's perspective. It remarkable and engorging and you can't get enough. The fact that the love he feels for Raven is what has kept him alive and sane is beyond romantic (every girl wants this romance). I can't even imagine the loyalty he felt for her to agree to such a place in the first place. Of course Raven doesn't know this, but in the tradition of most romances, what girl does? I absolutely love the way the author has this book (like all her books) being told in multiple narratives. You hear from Loki's perspective, Drake's perspective, The elf prince, the elf princess, Raven, and any and all characters have their own say in this story.Read more ›
Drake is a torn soul fighting for freedom and fighting his destiny to rule his level of Hell.
Raven an innocent old soul is falling for him but she is born of the ice land and he is of fire.
Does destiny matter what you are made of?
Can the two of them survive the devils plotting against them?
This book brought me to tears with the love and devotion between two seperate beings.
I felt Raven's grief.
Heather has a great skill of bringing her characters to such a level of development they become real and with that realness you feel their emotions. You cry with them and laugh with them and they are friends. She has once again brought the pages of this book to life with her work. There is a true sense of love and being written into the torrents of war and suffering of this work.
Heather being Heather though leaves the end in a cliff hanger that leaves you begging her for teasers and tid bits to tide you over until the next release.
This is a definate must read, Amazingly well written.
Heather is a true artist in her craft.
