5.0 out of 5 stars REALLY GREAT ALBUM!, August 3, 2004
This review is from: Drama (Audio CD)
Beseech is a seven piece unit from Sweden. (Digression: /ON) Hold on, yet another superb Swedish hard rock band? What is it about that country, anyway? I mean, most music scenes would love to have two or three great acts emerge on the national (or international) scene each year. Yet every time some janitor at a Swedish label farts or blows his/her nose, it's awesome! (Digression: /OFF) This is their fourth full length album, but just the first to be "officially" released in America. Their previous efforts had been import only, with the video clip for "Between The Lines" (from "Souls Highway") being heavily traded and downloaded with the band's full permission. This technique has paid off, with Ryko picking up their latest effort. In a word, this album is: awesome. Erik Molarin's vocals are less Peter Steele-ish this time around, and the band is truly developing a style all their own. Female singer Lotta Haglan's style is likewise getting more diverse, and the songwriting has been kicked up a notch. In the past, Beseech has been compared to HIM and Evanescence, and not unfavorably. This album is more mature and less derivative, and a thoroughly pleasant listen. Standout cuts include "Drama" (the first single), "Forever Falling", and "Addicted". If you like dark, melodic, gothic heavy metal, then this is one album you shouldn't miss! (Taliesin Govannon)

5.0 out of 5 stars Beseech Lives On!, November 3, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Drama (Audio CD)
I bought this CD because I had another Beseech CD, "From a Bleeding Heart", which is a five-star CD in itself, so I knew I wasn't going to be disappointed with this one. From the very first track, "Drama", the album sets the tone for the rest. This is Gothic Metal at its best, in a nutshell. Some other very notable songs on this CD to check out are, "Voices", "Bitch", and "Higher Level" just to name a few. This album is great from front-to-back and back-to-front. The only downfall is that Beseech, as a band, doesn't exist anymore. It's a shame because they put out great music.

4.0 out of 5 stars 3.5 Stars; Decent, September 2, 2004
This review is from: Drama (Audio CD)
Beseech seems to be a blend of synth-pop and gothic metal, which I would never expect to work but they seem to do it. Put aside the fact that their lead singer looks like a poster child for the Pink Flamingo alternate lifestyle entertainment center, they are pretty good in the area of synth and atmosphere, but musically they're a typical goth-rock act. Nothing much to say about the guitar/drum/bass section, except that it's pretty straightforward and they don't do much out of the ordinary. The male singer sounded good the first time I heard him, but his voice gets annoying after a while. The girl isn't too bad. Overall an album worth getting if you're into stuff like Lacuna Coil or Type O Negative.
