They needed some "serious" prayer!,
This review is from: Drama in the Church (Paperback)
This novel has drama that involves members from the pulpit to the door; evolving around the associate pastor, her members, family and friends.
No stone left unturned and no sin not revealed as Dynah Zales wrote this complex story of four women (Val, Elise, Tressie & Olivia). You have four major conflicts simultaneously going on in this tale: Valerie & Julian (her all-star NBA player, dating since their high school days); Elise & Murray (her impotent husband); Tressie & Payce (her "reformed" thug boyfriend, fearful of jail yet bordering on returning back there again) & Olivia (pregnant) & Bryant (her 1st time boyfriend). Each scenario is uniquely spicy and original in their twisted tale of drama - to tell the story is unfair. But it would be a cheat to not read this book. It was EXCELLENT!!! Star Rating:***** 5.0

This book is true to its title, there is plenty of drama going on!,

This review is from: Drama in the Church (Paperback)
This book was very entertaining and has many dramatic themes. If you are looking for drama, this is the book to read!
Through out all of this drama the main theme was the need for "prayer" and when you read all the problems that occur in the lives of these church members you will want to pray with or for them. This book showed some typical situations that could occur in any church. How the sins of the world can follow us into the church and that we are not to be in judgement of others because we are all sinners, trying to get it right! However, many of the themes in the book were predictable,(Tressie and Payce) naive church girl fall for bad boy and thinks she can change him,(Olivia and Bryant) church girl has baby for first man who pays her some attention and then finds out he is a crook; there was some other themes that were also predictable,(Val and Julian) young athlete who makes it to the NBA and leaves hometown, long time girlfriend/fiance for a trophy white girl, who drop kicks him at the first sign of trouble. The minister who is leading a double life, (Minister Kane). The couple with marital problems (Elise and Miles) which lead to a secret affair and terrible accident. Then there is Bryant, (the character who people will love to hate). Even though you know he is some type of criminal, his actual crime will be somewhat of a surprise! This is an easy to read, fun book which can be read at a very fast pace because it is action packed and just simply flows. This book also could have been developed into at least two more books because it contains, just that much drama!!

SCANDALOUS!,
By
This review is from: Drama in the Church (Paperback)
This Sunday at First Nazareth AME Church seem pretty much like previous Sundays, the choir singing and members shouting praises to the lord. The congregation did not know that when Olivia stood up and confessed her sin to the whole church that she had sex outside of marriage and she was now pregnant and planned on keeping the baby, that this would be the beginning of some serious DRAMA IN THE CHURCH!! Olivia is in love and pregnant for her first boyfriend Bryant. Bryant has been playing the sweet father to be, but underneath he's a conniving, heartless bigamist, who has a secret that is so stunning you will shake your head with disgust. Bible study teacher Elise and her husband Miles have been happily married for six years, but for the last three months Elise has become the poster girl for frustrated wives. Ever since they decided to start a family Miles hasn't been able to rise to the attention of his sex starved wife. Meanwhile, a stranger has literally knocked Elise off her feet, causing her suppressed sexual hunger to surface. Depressed and wounded Miles seeks help for his problem but when he witnesses the ultimate betrayal, a broken Miles commits a desperate act to get rid of his problem once and for all. These are just two of a handful of suspenseful plots that keep the drama sizzling in the First Nazareth AME church. The cover and catchy title caught my attention and the story proved to be one I won't forget too easily. Be prepared for an array of colorful characters, and experience the disappointment, betrayal, greed and sex, along with spiritual lessons learned, that lead to DRAMA IN THE CHURCH! Let The Church Say, Amen!,

This review is from: Drama in the Church (Paperback)
Drama In the Church was a compelling story of the lives of the women of First Nazareth AME Church. With one dealing with a drug habit, the other getting pregnant out of wedlock, another trying to hold on to her NBA bound boyfriend, and the last a devoted leader trying to deal with bedroom issues with her husband a vivid picture was painted as they all struggled with their home life and their belief in God.
It was spicy, even for Christian fiction, but there were moments in the book that put me to sleep....just like church on Sunday morning. Dynah did a good for her first time out, and I hope to see something better the next go round.

Im new to this type of story as I usually only really read Christian fiction, but I must say I found it entertaining. It had some over the top parts but hey, its fiction and Im sure its happening somewhere in somebody's church (proably mine) LOL. If you're looking for some straight drama, this is it.

A must read,
This review is from: Drama in the Church (Paperback)
The author did a good job tackling many issues that arise in the church world. It was so sad to see the outcome of some of the situations that were addressed. It would have been nice if some of the people who had serious issues who have repented for their sins but I guess the author was really keeping it real because so many people continue in sin no matter what. This book had me screaming and laughing at times. I was so shocked by Reverend Kane. I will not go into deep details but this stuff really happens. I hope there is a sequel to this book.
