GREAT LEARNING TOOL!,
By A. Robert Dionne, Majestic Theatre (Manchester, NH United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Drama School (Paperback)
This book is a true treasure for youth theatre, because it not only talks about every aspect of the theatre in a way that kids can understand, but it also reinforces a lot of the things we like to teach our young artists. It also has hands-on extra activities that allow the young artists to take what they learn a step further. An extremely clear table of contents and layout of the book covers everything from building a team to preparing the show and what it takes to put a show together; from learning to act to makeup, sound, and props. A one-page glossary at the end of the book reviews many of the terms that every young actor needs to know. Whereas this book is only 48 pages long, it is intended to give a general overview of each topic and not intended to make the student a "pro." I am thrilled with the basic content and will now use this book as a manual for all of our youth programs here at the Majestic Theatre.
