The Dramm thumb valves are very hard to find in stores. Still, the nurseries seem to get them for their own use. This thumb valve comes under the heading of professional or industrial equipment. If you have ever used one, you've fallen in love with it. I have a second house and need a second thumb valve. Glad I thought to look for it here.

My only beef with it is the threads are a little short. If your washer is thicker than normal, the Dramm might not get enough threads and will pop off. That can be a surprise!!

Hint #1: Make sure the male side of your hose has a flat face to butt up against the washer. Stamped brass hose ends are terrible and will bite into the washer causing it to leak. I will cut the stamped brass ends off and replace them with a good quality plastic male fitting simply to get the flat end.

Hint #2: I always throw away the flat washer inside the female ends of hoses, sprinklers, and accessories. Instead I use a #15 O-Ring found at Ace Hardware or the Nelson 50381 found on Amazon. I think the #15 from Ace works better because it is a thinner o-ring. If you use a flat male connector, you will never get a leak against an 0-ring.
