Kiss and Make up,

I just want to say that it touches my heart to know that people still enjoy Chris' music after so long, and still speak of the great talent that he possessed. His passing was definately a shock for his family and he is definately missed and thought of everyday when I look into his daughters eyes. It's so funny because I just happened to be browsing the site at the recommendation of a vendor and he mentioned that they sell old albums, so I said let me look to see if Chris' album is on here and sure enough it was. I am pleasantly surprised. Also I would just like to mention he does have more stuff it's just not published. Tania

I was turned on to chris's music by a friend of mine a few years ago and to this day I still play his music. My favorites are who will I chose and sorry didnt do it.The whole album is good. This brother would have definitely made it in the music buisness. Its such a tragedy that such a young talented brother was taken from us.Im so glad that he had a chance to share some of his music with us. Rest in peace chris and God bless you and your family-Lloyd (a fan from N.Y.)

BEST SINGER SINCE SAM COOKE,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Draped (Audio CD)
I've been a fan of Chris Bender since 1991.He is still my favorite singer to this day. Living in Milwaukee, Wisconsin I've been limited to the actual events to his early pasting... The whole world missed out on what God had planned for our best listening pleasure. Your R&B collection is not complete if you don't already own his CD.I just can't say enough about this man and his incredible ablity to sing hard! Just like Sam Cooke. He was the Man!

A Solid Vocalist That Struggled For Mainstream Acceptance,
By "retro_styled_crooner" (Tustin, CA USA) - See all my reviews

Chris Bender's Draped includes more hip-hop/new jack flavored tunes, plus some slightly above average vocals and great high caliber production. Bender doesn't lack in originality, his problem is more so that theres not one STAND-OUT track to break him into the mainstream. The album hit No. 92 on the R&B charts, which is awful, but this shouldn't mean that the album should be overlooked. His two charted singles "I Knew" and "That's Not The Way" broke into the top-70 on the R&B charts, and the heavily respected (today) singles "Kiss and Make Up" and "Who Will I Choose" have the strong lead, which most the album lacks. Bender's death has nothing to do with the material on Draped, he was a good vocalist that struggled to break out of the pack.

Long Time Fan!!!!,

Chris' talent really shone through on this album. He was a very talented artist who was definitely on his way to becoming something big in the industry. He was taken away from us too soon. His memory lives on in his music. I'll always remember you, Chris.

Mr. Bender was truly a contender on the charts. He is recognized more-so for the single "Who will I choose"? He would have truly made his mark in this world.

Promising career tragically cut short,
By Glen Zimmerman "RealMenDriveFords" (Lindenwold, New Jersey) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)

In 1991, 18 year old Chris Bender made this new-jack swing album that remains one of the more unfortunately overlooked releases of the genre. No hits, but filled with funky beats (especially on "Sorry Didn't Do It") and polished production. Tragically on 11-3-91, still not yet 20 years old, he was shot to death.

Back in the early 90's, one of my best friends said to me: You have to listen to this album! It was Chris Bender and the first song she told me to listen to was "Kiss and Make Up". I fell in love with his voice and to this day, I still have the album on my playlist on my home computer and I listen to it very regularly. I was devasted to learn that Chris had been so tragically killed just when he was making his mark on the music world. I for one will not let his memory die. I will continue to listen to his awesome music every chance I get! If you don't already have this album, you would want to add it to your collection.

it really makes me sad that chris was taken from us at such an early age. he never really got a chance to reach his full potential in the music industry. every since i was younger and my brother got me into listening to chris bender i wondered what it would be like if he was still living. this was a really good album, especially hits like "who will i choose," "kiss and make up," and "spell bound." i really wish he could still be here with us today to share more of his wonderful talents. Rest In Peace Chris. You Are Truly Missed.
