Very helpful, but some similar information,

I own other Lee Hammond books, and some of the information from them were re-used in this book. The sections that are new are great! The photographs are wonderful and the step by step drawings are very helpful. I believe the best part of the book was "Drawing the Fashion Face", which had many tips on eyes, noses, ears, and proper proportion. I recommend this book to any beginner or intermediate artist wanting to draw fashion.

It's good, but not for a total beginner.....,

This book definitely showed me how to draw the figure and the face by using shapes, but I need more focus on the clothes and the movement of the body. It's very helpful in showing you how to draw the fabrics to look lifelike so it is a very good book, but not for someone with no experience at all.

I found this book to be a incredible help in my art work. I have spent hours in book stores looking at books on pencil art work instruction on drawing people. Among all the books I looked at I found nothing that comes close to Lee Hammonds technique in the use of shading. I also am a photographer and I understand the importance of light values which Lee stresses in her teaching which creates such a realitic look to your drawings.I am so thankful I came across this book. Lee Hammond states in the acknowledgments of the book she could not find any source or school to teach her the style and pencil technique she teaches so she turned to self-teaching. I also purchased her book "How To Draw Real People" this book has also given me some great ideas to add to my drawings of people. I am in the process of purchasing some of her other books as well on sketching animals. Thanks Lee for sharing your artistic talent!

More Than Just Fashion,

Although I am not interested in drawing for Fashion Model purposes, I found this book to be very helpful. I have been drawing for many years. I have always struggled with portrait and figure drawing. This book gives a formula for figure drawing and facial features by using basic shapes, measuring distance and by graphing. I also found the lessons on drawing fabric and fabric patterns to be helpful. I feel I have been able to finally break through my weakness and round out my drawing abilities. Thank you Lee Hammond.

Not for beginners,

i enjoyed this book from an artist point of view, it is really great if you are more so into giving your work a more "polished" artistic look but not much for fashion illustration. Only the section about rendering fabric patterns (gingham, stripes, and fabric folds) are really useful.

Most sections seemed to be missing a few steps. If you are a total beginner this is not the book for you. If you have some talent then by all means get this book.

Good source for drawing flats.,

This book briefly goes into how to draw flats, but for learning every other aspect; from shading, to creating fabric folds, to drawing lace, and plaids i would recommend Fashion Sketchbook instead. Hope this helps :D

This is a very handy reference to use while sketching people. It offers plenty of information and gets right to the nuts and bolts of getting the artwork done right. While other books seem to be filled with the author trying to entertain this one is filled with the author trying to explain and teach. Recommended.

just a common book on how to scratch. talks about drawing models, but has nothing to do with fashion. squeezed the hot word in just to attact more attention. plus, you'll never draw like that for your fashion creative work.

While mostly focused on drawing beautiful young women and a few young men, this is one of the better books I've seen on realistically drawing people (face, hair, hands), clothing, different types of fabrics, and accessories. Excellent explanations of different types of folds and draping in clothing. Another good reference for simple and expressive drawing of clothed figures of all shapes and sizes is Bradley's Drawing People: How to Portray the Clothed Figure
