4.0 out of 5 stars Easy first step
This book is a very good start for people who wish to startlearning the basic of fantasy drawing. It works with you step by stepwith precise instructions and examples and, unlike other books of it's kind, progresses fast so you can see some results in a matter of hours. that is extremly importent since it will give you the needed motivation to continue and try to work...

I found this book to be not at all helpful, and too A-to-B-to-C. It was very "Copy what you see here.", and overall, unoriginal, and boring.

This review is from: Draw Medieval Fantasies (Learn to Draw (Peel)) (Paperback)
This book is a very good start for people who wish to startlearning the basic of fantasy drawing. It works with you step by stepwith precise instructions and examples and, unlike other books of it's kind, progresses fast so you can see some results in a matter of hours. that is extremly importent since it will give you the needed motivation to continue and try to work more complicated figures. The books teaches you to draw warriors, some monsters, dragons, castles and a few heroic figures.

The only fallback is that is where you'll get - basic figures, who will look diffrent from each other by your determination of color, armor, horns and hight of it's turrets, but no more change then that.

At the bottome line it is a great and easy books for begginers, like myself. after a great search for a book just like this one I can say it hits the spot.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful, inspirational book for beginners!, February 2, 2006

This review is from: Draw Medieval Fantasies (Learn to Draw (Peel)) (Paperback)
As part of a new job working with animators and designers, I felt that I should probably learn how to gain competency with a pencil so I could clearly present some of my ideas. Having never been able to draw anything more complicated than a stick figure my entire life (I'm 24), I decided to give drawing a serious effort after coming across a copy of Damon Reinagle's book. His easy to follow, step by step instruction focusing on how to see the common shapes that unify the world around us made me believe that drawing was actually something I could learn. Sure enough, after only about an hour of practice I found that I could draw fantastic pictures that were hitherto a total mystery to me. Thanks to Damon Reinagle, I feel as though I've awakened a new part of myself and have decided to take up drawing as a hobby as well as applying it practically to my work.

My [...] son loves this book. He's begining to uderstand the concept of shapes as building blocks and I see it in his other drawings as well. Nicely written. Thanks
