I read Lee Hammond's book, "Draw Real Animals" and I think it was really really worth my money. She discovered a blending technique that makes drawings look real. What's nice about this book is that she presents before and after drawings of kids (and they look real). When I first tried her technique, I got INSTANT RESULTS! Before when I used to look at a paper and try to draw, I thought, "no, this won't work" But now, every drawing I finish looks like a masterpiece! Buy this book, it will inspire you to draw more!

Oh My Gosh! This book is amazing! When I had tried to draw animals in the past, I always turned up with bunches of rough, uneven lines that had a sketchy appearence. After studying this book and practicing the techniques within it, I created this beautiful drawing of a horse which I have now framed. I always get lots of great comments about it and a lot of my friends ask who I bought it from, since they can't believe that I did it! I would recommend this book to anyone who would like to improve their drawing skills, or to anyone interested in bringing out their artisticside that want a place to start.

Lee Hammond's books stand out above the rest and this one is no exception. I'm staring at my drawing of a tiger she presents in the book. It is so good that I can't believe I did it. If you want to learn to draw realistic animals get her book.

This book gives not only the basic shapes of animals but also the way to illustrate the fur and feathers found on most animals. A good reference book as well as instruction book.

This book really lifted my animal-drawings several levels.
I think it has very well-explained step-by-step lessons. Both on seperate parts of animals leading to a whole animal-drawing. Lee Hammond has a certain way of leading you, so you feel comfortable and yet challenged all the way.

This book is a wonderful book for anyone who wants to learn to draw real looking animals. I have done so much with the techniques this book has taught me. I would recommend it to anyone.

Everyone leaves reviews about how much sucess they have in making things look "so real".... I've practiced and practiced and practiced. I still to this day after about 10 months of drawing after using this book, CANNOT figure out the lighting technique! Whenever I try using it, (which was only 2 times and I gave up) it comes out looking like a shady mess. But then I look at Lee Hammond's drawings, and her's are so flawless compared to mine. It makes me wonder if only true artists can do the lighting... (If anyone can say yes or no, please tell me. It seems like all artists can do the lighting....) I don't mean sound like a pity seeker, but it's the truth: My drawings aren't at all as good as Lee Hammond's!

got this as a gift for an 11 yr old. She loves it and was drawing beautiful animals the first try. very nice

This book is excellent and really does do what it says in the title. Will really help those that are starting out as well as more advanced artists. Really excellent speedy delivery as well.

I reccomend this book to everyone who wants to draw really good! I bought it a while ago in hopes of making my drawings better, and it worked! I don't really ever use the graph (I tried to use it once to draw a dog portrait once, and came out DISGUSTING!). One of my friends wanted me to draw her a Rotti one time, and as I was drawing, she was saying, "You draw really good! You're gonna be an artist when you grow up!". So then, before she went home, she asked me draw her another dog and give it to her the next day, I did, and she loved that too! It really works, it just takes some time to develope your skills, but, your drawings will get better! Lee Hammond is also an awesome drawer! I was glad I bought also, because whenever I saw a drawing that was better than what I could do,(especially if it was by someone a little younger or older), I would get slightly depressed and felt I could never make it better. But, Lee Hammond proved me wrong! I'm glad she's a drawer, and that she writes instructional art books!
