Simple drawing lessons and great handwring practice!,

This review is from: Draw Write Now, Book 3: Native Americans, North America, Pilgrims (Draw-Write-Now) (Paperback)
My children love these books. The art lessons are very simple. I wish I could send you a copy the horse my 6 year old son drew. I've never drawn a horse so well! This from my son who cries " I don't know how to draw, mom!" You won't be sorry you bought this book. The format is very clear and simple and It shows how good penmanship is an art form. Pages are not cluttered. Extra Ideas spark a young artists creativity. These books are great for reference "Now how did I draw that boat?" Worth every dime.

Great Choice for Art,

My 6 and 8 year-olds really enjoy this book. We are studying American History and use this to illustrate some of what they learn. The book represents a few of the different Native American tribes, the regions of the U.S. and the Pilgrims. It is simple enough that they can copy the illustrations on their own, but parents can point out finer details to encourage artistic learning.

Simply The Best!,

This series is one of my all time favorite homeschool finds! Simple step by step drawing and copy work. My 5 year old started book 1 in preschool. His drawings were adorable but pretty much unrecognizable. But, he persisted and now a year later is becoming quite the artist! Plus his handwriting is great now and I know that these helped him learn to read. The best part about it is he LOVES to do it! It's a treat for him! Who knew handwriting could be fun! We've got almost every book now. After he finishes a book, we pick out the best section or two and make his `own' book by gluing the drawings and copy-work onto construction paper and putting it all in a clear report folder. He's so proud!

We will be using this book during a study of Lewis and Clark. We have other Draw Write Now books and my kids have always enjoyed them. Besides the times we work on a particular drawing together, they will also take one down and work on their drawings all by themselves. I think it is helping them to become better artists by breaking down the steps. Basically lots of shapes put together equals a complete picture. It is easy enough to understand that my five year old can work on her own without my help. This is a great product, and I would definitely recommend any of these books.

I would recommend this book and all of the others in this series. My oldest daughter who is a born artist didn't use it too much, but my other three, school-age children pull these books out on a regular basis and use the steps to draw. Even my artistically-challenged son enjoyed following the steps and being able to draw something that actually looked like the example. He was very proud of himself.
I also like the fact that the books encourages writing something to go along with the pictures. It helps solidify what they are learning.

This is one course my child has no problem doing for fun. It is a wonderful collection, we have a few of the books. I homeschool and use this as a handwriting and art lesson. It is fun and very easy I join in and draw too. Highly recommend. Price is great at Amazon, local B&N had for almost twice the price.

Great for all ages!,

I love this book! I used it when teaching my 7 year old about Lewis and Clark and also when teaching my 5 year old about Native Americans! The simple step by step instructions for drawing indians, canoes, and cradleboards plus animals of North America stuck with my kids and they keep practicing even months later! I then used their drawings to help inspire them to write short reports about Lewis and Clark, Sacajawea and the Native Americans. Highly recommend for early elementary grades!
