5.0 out of 5 stars Fun Learning, October 10, 2010

This review is from: Draw and Write Through History: Greece and Rome (#2) (Paperback)
This is a fun way to present History, especially for children who enjoy drawing. I supplemented this book with some fun reading material that goes along with Ancient Greece and Rome. Rather than have my son copy the written portions, I have him summarize, in his own words, at the top or bottom of his drawing page. Overall, an excellent product.

4.0 out of 5 stars Combine 3 Subjects! Art, History, and Cursive!, October 10, 2011
This review is from: Draw and Write Through History: Greece and Rome (#2) (Paperback)
Yay! We can combine 3 subjects! Great supplement to homeschool art, history, and cursive handwriiting.

Each of the 5 sections has several pictures to draw with step by step instructions. Then a page of cursive copy work. The pictures are very detailed and beautiful. The copy work is a short historical report.
The books are written by a pastor's wife and the copy work has some Christian references. Other books in the series include biblical history.

Works great with the classical approach, Well Trained Mind, unit study, Story of the World, History Odyssey and Charlotte Mason methods as well as any other methods where you want to combine history, handwriting, and art. This is more advanced drawing than the, also awsome, Draw Write Now, Book 1: On the Farm-Kids and Critters-Storybook Characters (Draw-Write-Now) series and is a perfect continuation to it.

This has a bibliography in the back so you could easily make a history unit or unit study out of it.

Sections include: Hanging Gardens, Greece, The Great Wall of China, Hannibal, and Rome. Color illustrations. 60+ pages.

These books are written by a Christian author and promote a Christian world view.

More books in the series are:

Draw and Write Through History Creation through Jonah
Draw and Write Through History: Greece and Rome
The Vikings, the Middle Ages, and the Renaissance
The World of the 1800's
The 20th Century

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully Useful!, May 24, 2011

This review is from: Draw and Write Through History: Greece and Rome (#2) (Paperback)
My daughter is still too young for the cursive writing portion of this book but thoroughly enjoys the drawing portion. At 6 years old, she is able to use the drawing instruction to teach herself techniques for illustrating her history studies and she drags this book out all the time! We're saving the writing portion for when she's ready for it. This is the third book we have of this series and all are of the same high-interest quality.
