Dragon fun.,

This review is from: The Art of Drawing Dragons, Mythological Beasts, and Fantasy Creatures: Discover Simple Step-by-Step Techniques for Drawing Fantastic Creatures of Folklore and Legend (The Collectors Series) (Paperback)
This is a fun book for drawing dragons and other fantasy mythological creatures. I didn't care for the artist's interpretation of some of the characters, as they were a little cartoonish for my style. However, I was expecting that from looking at the cover, and this book held up to my expectations and more. He covers a wide variety of mythological creatures from around the world in step by step format. I even found myself interested in the brief explanations of each creatures' origins, and wanting to know more. Overall, it was a fun book that can spark your imagination, and inspire some creative drawing.

This book is a great reference to have on the bookshelf of your studio if you're an artist and a great learning tool if you want to be an artist and/or learn to draw. I have several in this Collector's Series; The Art of Basic Drawing, The Art of Pencil Drawing and The Art of Drawing People. They are all equally good and permanent books that I'm proud to have in my studio!

Bought this from the seller; lightining fast shipping, and when it arrived, it made one budding young artist extremely happy. He has had the book in his hand almost every night since, and the easy to understand directions, the teaching of basic skills, and the opening of his 'Imagination Door' made this easily one of the best purchases I've made. Great for all skill levels, including advanced.

This book was an excellent decision. I love dragons and stuff, and this book shows exactly how to draw them, explains the shading, and everything!

This was a very enjoyable read and presented the fundamentals of drawing in a clear, concise manner.
The variety of mythical beasts covered is quite impressive and the author includes various tidbits of information about the history or mythology of each creature. The only "bad" thing I can say is that some inexperienced artists (under 10) may find it difficult to follow until they have a bit of practice at simpler drawings. This technique is familiar and any art student or art fan will recognize the "basic shape to finished form" concept. In this way, it is very simplistic but also covers shading, tone and depth in an easy to understand manner.

We choose this book over others because it has great multi-step drawings that were appropriate for the beginner to the more advanced detail artist. We also liked that it was not limited to just dragons. My kids are tweens and teens into Harry Potter style and martial arts drawings.

This is the book for those who wish to learn how to draw those wonderful dragon characters. Superb addition to the library of pyrographers, carvers, and other crafts folks.

First, I did not order this book from this website, but I feel I should review it anyway. The book has great information in it, easy to use, and lots of variaty. But to me, some of the creatures were represented badly. They were cartoony, or they just didnt flow right.
