THE REASON WHY I THINK IT IS THE BEST DEVOTIONAL I HAVE EVER READ IS: EACH MONTH THE AUTHOR TAKES A SCRIPTURAL SUBJECT AND TEACHES YOU IN DEPTH. HE ALSO MAKES IT INTERESTING AND THOUGHT PROVOKING. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO ANYONE WHO WANTS TO HAVE A CLOSER WALK WITH GOD. EVEN READING IT YEAR AFTER YEAR IT SEEMS YOU LEARN MORE.

I bought this book just before the start of a very difficult time in my life. I am sure that it was God's gift to me to keep me focused on how He wanted me to respond to the problems that were about me. The Devotions were appropriate and relevant to the problems and decisions we all face in todays world. Praise God that He is the same yesterday, today and forever!!! I would recommend this book to anyone, who needs the wonderful and precious comfort God gives when we draw near to Him.

Excellent devotional to help you grow closer to the Lord. Breaks down verses with sometimes more than one explanation. We recommend to anyone who wants to walk closer with God.

If you really want to grow spiritually, it involves daily exposure to God's Word. This devotional will help you accomplish this day by day. There are many devotionals that have wonderful stories that tie into a scripture verse, and it is quickly read, with very little time with God, and out to work we go, with very little spiritual nourishment.

This work by John MacArthur will provide you a healthy feeding every day. He is committed to an indepth approach to bible exposition. And this book does just that, drawing from the main passages he has taught over the years. At the conclusion of the year, you will have gained a firm grasp of many of the great texts of the Bible. So while you are studying verse by verse through a passage, you'll find that each day stands on its own and makes direct application to your life.

A very close friend asked me for advice, he said "I was wondering if you knew of a good devotional book that would get me to think and cause me to interact with the book and the bible. This book examines scripture more in depth than most simple devotional books. The same scripture might be discussed for several days in a row. Each day there is also a prayer suggestion and also a "for further study" section.

There are 366 practical daily devotions to provide you with spiritual growth. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a daily devotional.

Superior to many daily devotional books in its depth because of the multi-day attention to a single challenging passage; MacArthur is always solid Biblically!

If you are looking for a good solid devotional with a little meat on it's bones, this is an excellent choice. So many devotionals tell us a "feel good story" based on a biblical principle, and if we are lucky we can still remember it half way through the day. These are not a "true devotional", they are totally secular. The only thing that will help us get through our days, (and more so as times grow darker), is reading and hearing truth from God's Word. He does a good job with this devotional. I hope you will give this a chance, I don't think you will be disappointed.

I love this devotional! I've been reading it since January and it really teaches you a little more about God every day. I read this one at night and the other devotional by John MacArthur "Strength For Today" in the morning. I also bought them both for my brother-in-law for Christmas and he loves them. At the end of each reading there is a section for "suggested prayer" and "further study" which are very helpful and helps you to really think about the reading and apply it to yourself. If you don't want to buy the books, the reading for each day is available on the Grace to You website, but I really suggest buying the books. It's much more convenient for me.

Drawing Near from John MacArthur is a great devotional. Well balanced to grow in your walk with the Lord Jesus, and also very clearly explains the way to salvation and Heaven. Hits many of the areas a believer, practically, needs to apply God's Word to his/her life. Highly recommend it!
