5.0 out of 5 stars DCGirl
I found this book to be very informative. Granted, this book may not be for someone attempting to learn to draw without formal instruction; however, during my first two years of college I was a Graphic Design major and had difficulty grasping the concept of how to depict foreshortening. I was told by friends who are wonderful illustrators in the comic book style (which...

1.0 out of 5 stars Confusing!
This is one of the most confusing educational books I have ever read. It is beautifully illustrated but the diagrams, when studied closely, are poorly labelled, do not accord with the text and overlap one another in a misleading way. The text itself is very hard to digest, uses lots of jargon and fails to explain the pictures/diagrams. In addition there is no attempt made...

The text itself is very hard to digest, uses lots of jargon and fails to explain the pictures/diagrams. In addition there is no attempt made to show how the principles so poorly explained can be applied to real drawing situations. In short, I would not recommend this book to anyone.

Granted, this book may not be for someone attempting to learn to draw without formal instruction; however, during my first two years of college I was a Graphic Design major and had difficulty grasping the concept of how to depict foreshortening. I was told by friends who are wonderful illustrators in the comic book style (which uses foreshortening quite a bit) that the concept is often grasped during an "aha moment." I experienced that moment while flipping through a copy I found at my office! While I do not own this book yet I am planning to purchase a copy for my personal library ASAP!

2.0 out of 5 stars Pretty, but not informative, September 16, 2010
This review is from: Drawing in Perspective (Paperback)
The illustrations are very nice and the book is in full color. But it's far too vague with its explanations. It really only serves as a brief introduction to the subject of perspective. I would recommend the book by G. White, which is a much more thorough treatment.
