Linda Nagata, award-winning sci-fi writer under pen name Trey Shiels, ventures into an action-packed fantasy with a thread of romance that will keep you turning the pages late into the night. An unerring ear for language and fine use of prose lends itself to a quality read. Dread Hammer casts a haunting spell that will leave you thinking about the book and waiting on the sequel- and wondering if the demon assassin has a heart after all.

Although not as complicated a book as I am used to reading (meaning Robert Jordan, etc), the book is still quite gripping with delightful little twists along the way to keep you guessing. Definitely worth the read and a sequel! :) Loved it.

This is the first foray into fantasy by author Linda Nagata, who has previously been the recipient of the Locus and Nebula awards for her sci-fi novels. (Here she's writing under the pen name Trey Shiels.) The Dread Hammer would be a great read for any fantasy lover. Linda/Trey weaves together several storylines to create an involving saga. While there's lots of great action, the story is also fun and sexy. I'm also hoping there will be a sequel coming soon!

Fantasy is not really my type of reading material (although I do love Arthurian Romances) but this one caught my eye due to a Twitter posting.

It is an excellent story, complex but not so overly complicated that you couldn't follow easily. However, just when it got really interesting, it ended!

Hoping for a second book soon!
