Please don't...,
By
This review is from: Dread Head HQ Dread Dreadlock Starter Kit (Health and Beauty)
Please do not buy this dreadlock kit if you are planning on locking the healthy and attractive way. Do a little more research and you will find that no one within the dread community supports the use of wax on dreads other than those who stand to profit from peddling these products. That being said, the comb is nice and I can't think of anything negative to say about the accelerator considering it is just some saline concoction that you could make at home that is much more affordable.

Good product,
This review is from: Dread Head HQ Dread Dreadlock Starter Kit (Health and Beauty)
I have no idea what the review above is talking about because there are a lot of people I know who still use wax and there is nothing wrong with it. I personally use wax and have had people ask me about my dreads. I have had some people approach me and ask if I do them myself. Wax is not corrosive to your hair. The problem with wax is what exactly is in the wax. Do your research and find out what types of wax to avoid. for example, avoid wax that lists petroleum as an ingredient and if you happen to use the wrong wax, all you do is use a residue free shampoo to wash it off. Personally, I really love the shampoo included in this kit. It's great on your hair. Please do not be mislead into avoiding certain products because wax happens to be one of the popular methods to dreading your hair; if not the most popular.Anyway to review the product. Wax - It really does a good job of locking your hair. Do not put too much as it will leave your hair looking like you put candle wax on it, not to mention, too much wax attracts dust and particles and that is the last thing you want in your dreads-trust me! I had the experience of falling on a field a day after I'd waxed my dreads(I did not get the chance to dry them properly) and it was hell removing cut grass from my hair. Alas, I have learnt from my mistakes. Shampoo - I love the shampoo. It feels great on hair and helps dreads mature. I thought the company stated that just to get you to buy it but it really does. I know this because I went through a period of neglecting to wax my dreads and all I did was wash them. My dreads still looked good and tight despite the washing. Of course, they looked a tad fuzzy but not enough to make them look bad. Accelerator- personally, don't use the product much so I cannot give a decent review on it. The comb - It's a good comb however, I won't lie and tell you it is special and works magic. The thing with combs is that they are a standardized product that really you can find anywhere and don't particularly have to check around to find the prefect one. Dread combs are really similar. However, it's a good thing you won't have to go out and buy one as the kit comes with it. Rubber bands- Personally, do not use them much. I am not a big fan of bands in my hair, it just never ends well. However, if you want to merge to dreadz into one, they are really helpful! However, I don't use them much. Overall, great kit. I give it a 9 out of 10. Better than any other products I have used and saves you the couple of bucks you'll have to spend in a saloon. Personally, I recommend getting a professional when you start off. Just tell them you want to use whatever products you have. After that, maintain them yourself. I do the maintenance myself but I admit once in a while I take the trip to the saloon when I just don't have the time to do them.
