5.0 out of 5 stars On the Money!
If it's a BeBe Winans album, I'll buy it -- in fact I'll buy any Winans album sight unseen. Even so, I've been lukewarm to BeBe's solo offerings thus far. I absolutely love his voice and style and his live performances are wonderful, but I've found his solo outings okay, I play them once in a while.

3.0 out of 5 stars Vintage Bebe
As a Bebe fan, I expect the strong smooth vocals as always but I think in this album what stands out is that it's all done acoustic. I didn't like it as much as his frist album "Bebe Winans" or his second, "Love and freedom" but this one didn't disappoint. Although I was somewhat disappointed with the arrangement of some of the songs, it is still good quality and the...

Well! The mold has been broken! I love every song! This album will see a lot of play and for a long time. Nice and mellow, sung only the way that BeBe can. Very nice, not a dud in the bunch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow..., March 14, 2005

I am constantly impressed with the musical talent of the Winans' clan and here it's no different. Bebe has a strong, emotive voice and when he sings, the listener becomes privy to his feelings. Each song is uplifting as always, but "I Have a Dream" is phenomenal. It is refreshing to know that the spirits of our leaders are being kept alive and well. Not only does this song speak to the memory of Dr. King specifically, but it really pays homage to every man, woman and child who has given their lives for the cause of freedom, justice and equality. I have an even greater respect for Bebe for continuing to create music of substance and quality. Great job once again!!

I do wish he would do a couple of tracks with Cece from time to time.

5.0 out of 5 stars His best solo project yet, March 18, 2005

BeBe has such a sexy, souful voice that he can make you weak in the knees even when he's singing about Jesus. His gift for song is amazing. I've purchased all of his solo projects and I admit being a bit disappointed in a couple of them, but this is BeBe at his best and I love every cut here. Sing, BeBe, sing!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very smooth, March 13, 2005

I really love this cd. It seems that every new gospel cd is upbeat r and b and tready, which I love, but this is the one I play at the end of the day when I need to unwine. The previous reviewer says that it needs more, I say it't perfect the way it is. Be Be's lyrics are on point and the music is perfect if you want to relax.

3.0 out of 5 stars BeBe has done it again, February 24, 2005
This review is from: Dream (Audio CD)
I rushed to buy this CD the day it came out because I absolutely loved "Love and Freedom" his last solo release as well as his "Live and Up Close" disc. I will be honest with you, I thought every track was well sung by BeBe but I do have a few general complaints about the production and arranging of the tracks which really don't affect how good BeBe sings on these 11 tracks (w/ the exception to "Love Thang"). The track title "Love and Freedom" off of the album "Love and Freedom" was excellent with the huge powerful gospel choir at the bridge which carries through until the end. "When You Pray," "Dream's" opening track just falls short of capturing that feel of the track "Love and Freedom" because on "When You Pray" the backup isn't as many voices and doesn't put out a huge sound like a gospel choir. So, I would've liked to have seen at least a track or two on this disc that is like the track "Love and Freedom." I mean, R. Kelly puts out great Gospel songs with a huge choir backing him up (i.e. "The World's Greatest" "The Storm Is Over" and "I Believe I Can Fly") especially those on the "U Saved Me" disc on his double album. BeBe can do that too and he should've done it on this album. He could have also recorded a track about the war in Iraq or Afganistan but there wasn't anything there (really not a complain, a suggestion.) Also, there are no guest singers on this album expect his sister CeCe. On "Love and Freedom" there was Joe, Brian McKnight and Stevie Wonder. Furthermore, BeBe sang "Love Thang" great on "Live and Up Close." It was strong and he sung it in his full voice. On the studio version on the album "Dream," he is doing some weird thing with his voice - a breathy way of singing in which he gets scratchy at parts. If he was going to do a studio version (which he did), he should've done it like the way he sang it live. Anyway, moving on to the positives. On "That's A Friend" he demonstrates the power of his voice while still remaining smooth. The song has a good message too. It's a great track. "Help Is on the Way" is another great stand out track which is carefully contructed to be smooth and have a strong message. "I Have A Dream" does a nice job of incorporating Dr. Martin Luther King's "I Have A Dream" speech into the song and it came at a good time for Black History Month. I personally wouldn't have put some of the actual parts of the speech at some of the parts of the song that they were placed in because it sounds kind of choppy. However, it still doesn't take away from BeBe's excellent voice. "Safe From Harm" has awesome lyrics and a neat piano line. It would've been a perfect song to build up and end huge with a gospel choir but there again, it didn't happen. Overall, all the songs have great, strong lyrics but the production and arranging on some of these tracks are lacking. BeBe breaks out a lot and shows how strong of a singer he is, which is good but a lot of these songs should've built up with a gospel choir and had more of a bridge. This could have been done with tracks like "When You Pray" and "Safe From Harm" to name a few. This album had the potential to be great all around but it fell short because of production and arranging. As a whole though, BeBe shows yet again he has an excellent voice.

I am always inspired and taken a little higher when I listen to the smooth and mellow voice of this artist. In my humble opinion the planet should definately de-stress, with the best.
