5.0 out of 5 stars The best~
I have all of Soul Ballet's CD's. This one has to be the best to date! When I played this CD for the first time, I came to the conclusion you can play Soul Ballet 24/7.

3.0 out of 5 stars Could Have Been Better, September 18, 2004

I have every Soul Ballet cd and have been very impressed with Trip the Night Fantastic, especially, and Dial It In. I was super eager to get this CD, and super disappointed that it really isn't as great as their previous efforts. The songs lack uniqueness - they all blend together and there isn't one track that really stands out and makes you want to play it again and again. There are 10 tracks on the main cd, and then a bonus cd with 3 songs. There is also more singing/lyrics on this cd than on any previous ones; the same girl is singing in the background on many of the songs and disrupts the flow of the music. I would have liked less of her and more music that was distinguishable. However, it does still sound like Soul Ballet and you will recognize some of the beats from previous cds if you own any. I would recommend it, but not highly.

3.0 out of 5 stars Dream Beat Dream review, September 17, 2004

I bought the new CD by Soul Ballet, "Dream Beat Dream" primarily for the song "Cream" which is getting some play on the airwaves. But having already bought the self-titled "Soul Ballet" and "Trip The Night Fantastic" I must say I was disappointed with this effort.

There are certain songs that sound like Soul Ballet: "She Rides," "Cream," and "Jazzy Girl." But overall, there is too much repetition in the songs, with the same beat playing over and over with a girl in the background moaning. After a while it's just flat out boring and sounds like a revival of Disco.

On the bonus CD, however, is the 7 minute plus cut called "Exotique" which I must have played 30 to 40 times already. This song alone, in my opinion, is worth the price of admission. So there you have it, you're on your own from this point.

3.0 out of 5 stars A tad disappointed, February 19, 2005

I never thought I'd EVER be disappointed in a Soul Ballet cd! But I have to say after listening to Dream Beat Dream, that the older stuff is... just better. The rhythms here, although good, are just a little too funky for my tastes. It doesn't have the "smoothness" that his earlier work does. The BEST part of this cd, are the re-mixed tracks on the bonus disc... of his OLDER hits! I was also surprised that IT was only 20 min long (3 songs total) They shoud've just included them on the main cd!

Rick Kelly via Soul Ballet just keeps pumping out track after track of truly incredible tunes. i have all the Cd's to date and couldnt wait until i rec'd this new one. And yes folks, he has done it again! RK is a sriously visionary artist in my mind.
All the tracks are strong and well produced. If you are a fan of the previous CD's. Do yourself a BIG favor...pick this one up. You will be happy you did. RK thanks again for the great effort! i will be a lifelong fan....

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad at all..., January 25, 2005
This review is from: Dream Beat Dream (Bonus CD) (Audio CD)
I am not quite sure what cd the other reviewers bought but I think this is a worthwhile effort. All musicians evolve over time and this guy is no different. I fail to see a radical departure here. There is more of a techno feel to this one but it is set against some classic Soul Ballet Sounds. As soon as you pop it in you will recognize that piano.

This one can be played over and over again!

This CD is definitive of the classic Rick Kelly style! I loved "South Beach" and "Cream" especially! If you want to relax and enjoy good feel-good music or just want to let loose, Dream Beat Dream is for you...

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this CD! Very Sexy Songs, August 10, 2006
This review is from: Dream Beat Dream (Bonus CD) (Audio CD)
This is an excellent CD. The first song I heard from this album was She Rides. My local jazz station played this song and I fell in love with it. I took a gamble and bought this album and it's been worth every penny. The songs are hip but jazzy, sexy and hypnotic. Worth the investment! The songs on this CD can lead to a very romantic night....

5.0 out of 5 stars Soul Ballet and Dream Beat Dream by Rick Kelly, October 9, 2005

I've found that most CDs have one or two great songs on them, but
I love all of them on these two CDs. I could listen to them 24/7. I personally love the new upbeat rhythm rather then the older jazz.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Comeback!, September 2, 2004

Rick Kelly, or RK as he's better known in the group, Soul Ballet, has been venturing out of music over the last few years and into acting, garnering some prime roles, including Days of Our Lives and the controversial show, Nip/Tuck (of which, I'm a huge fan). With the new CD release of "Dream Beat Dream", it's great to see RK back in his element he's most familiar with. There are some great moments in "Dream Beat Dream". The first track, "She Rides" is a hip and smooth throwback to his previous releases, "Her Joyride" and "NYC Tripin". Other great tracks were "South Beach", "Cream" and "Her Dream". Though not as outstanding as his debut CD, the recording is much better than his last two CD releases. This album includes a second CD filed with re-mixes from his hugely successful debut album. The CD called, "All the Pretty Lights" is available on his official website, soulballet.com.
