Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 7-10 Reit takes her readers on a realistic, uncomfortable trip through a girl's first infatuation with a boy. Gwen is a typical teenager, dating the boy next door, envying her older sister (who married at 18 and had a baby at 19), and conscious of all of her personal flaws. She meets Jack, who offers her spontaneous fun and excitement. Unfortunately, he's also prone to disappearing for long periods of time, leaving her with self doubts and fears. Their relationship sends her emotions on a roller coaster ride. In the end, Gwen has to decide what she wants for herself and what she would have to give up to date irresponsible Jack. The message is clear, but not overdone, making this a fine novel about great expectations and realities of first love. Judie Porter, Media Services Center, Portsmouth School Department, R.I.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great book!, June 10, 2000
This review is from: Dream Boy (Hardcover)
The story is great! It is a boy meets girl story for all the young and young at heart romance lovers out there. Ann Reit keeps you on your toes as this compelling story unfolds. It will tempt you to turn to the back and read the end! Ann brings the characters to life and makes you feel as you are them. I believe everyone should read it! The story is based around a teenage girl,Gwen, who is always prepared and planning ahead. She seems to look at life as boring and dull, until she sees the boy on the beach. The boy, Jack, is easy going and takes life as it comes. As their relationship advances, their personalities begin to crash and collide. Gwen renews the relationship with her sister as you read about the twists and turns of Jack and Gwen's romance.
