5.0 out of 5 stars Smoldering Sandoval, August 5, 2000
By
Joe Bryer (West Chester, PA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dream Come True (Audio CD)
The fiery and hard-edged brilliance in Sandoval's usual offerings is toned down a couple of notches in this beautifully arranged and crafted collaboration with Michel Legrand. It smacks you in the face less, but wraps its tendrils around your heart more than any other Sandoval recording I know. Sandoval comes off as no less a genius than elsewhere, but there is understatement and rich texture. Technical brilliance is not this recording's reason for being, but rather this is a celebration of georgeous tunes and arrangements. I've grown to dislike Giant Steps because so many have tried their hand at it, but this is the best cover I've heard. This is my favorite Sandoval recording.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great production, May 21, 2011

I feel a lot of respect for Mr. Turi Sandoval, no question about it. As a great collector of GRP Records since its inception I must say Arturo Sandoval's time on GRP was the greatest on his career as far as I'm concern. I have all 6 productions under GRP and they are just easy to listening time and time again. I bought this CD back in the day when it was first released but got lost when I move to Miami and now thanks to a bunch of people selling used CDs here on Amazon, I was able to get it again. As time goes by, it seems like people are getting rid of their CDs since the convenience of store'em on your computer. Well...someother garbage may be my gain. I wouldn't trade the information on the booklets and/or inserts for the convenience of the digital media.
