Book Description

When Link joined his best friend, Ethan Wate, on a quest through a mysterious network of underground passageways endlessly crisscrossing the South, he knew the journey would be dangerous. But returning home to Gatlin, South Carolina was just the beginning...

Wounded during a climactic battle, Link discovers that tending his injuries won't be as simple as visiting a doctor and that healing his arm should be the least of his worries. For being bitten by a Supernatural does more than break the skin -- it changes a person, inside and out, turning Link into someone more and more like the dark creature who injured him.

In this never-before-seen short story by New York Times bestselling authors Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl, listeners witness Link's heart-racing transformation. Dream Dark is set before the much-anticipated third Beautiful Creatures novel, Beautiful Chaos, and as a special bonus includes an exclusive sneak peek at the first five chapters.

5.0 out of 5 stars MUST READ! August 5, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
If you are a fan of the series this is a must read. This is a short novella.... (about 9 short chapters), just pretty much a teaser, BUT VERY good! In order to understand the last book in this series "Beautiful -Chaos" you should read this novella first.
The story is now shifting to Link (aka: Linkubus) who has been turned into a hybrid sucubuss and no one really knows what powers hes capable of. However, Link doesnt seem concerned with being a strange creature he is too busy enjoying all the girls (Savanna Snow included) drooling over his new muscular chest & physical changes. The changes dont stop with Link they also show Ridleys change from a dark caster to a mere mortal! Our Ridley is not taking to human life well so she has some tricks up her sleeve to get some of her powers back and get in a whole heep of troubble along the way! Also, last but not least our lovable uncle Macon!!! He's being really quite about what type of creature he has now become after his return from the dead and quite frankly I dont think he even knows. He starts to take Link under his wing and sends him on some pretty scarey tasks to test his abilities & see if he is up to saving the world. You'll get some Lena and Ethan too; they are finally back together and Ethan is happily sad as the end of days approach Gatlin and the eighteenth moon is growing closer. "A broken day awaits the earth"...

These authors never fail to amaze me in the way they make each charachter so lovable right down to their cute little flaws. They are also super talented at weaving a story that keeps your brain thinking and moving and forgetting the world around you! This was the best $1.99 I spent in a LONG time!

1.0 out of 5 stars A rip off in my opinion. January 26, 2013
By Amber
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Not what I thought it would be. At the end of beautiful chaos they have this story for free. So don't buy this book. I am pretty upset because I thought that there would be so much more to the link story but no. Don't get me wrong it was a good little short story and it explains part of the last book so for sure read it in beautiful chaos but don't buy this. Buy beautiful chaos then you get it for FREE. not pay 1.99.

5.0 out of 5 stars DREAM DARK January 28, 2012
By Tatiana
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Dream Dark really helps you fully grasp what is going on with Link after John bites him. How everything is changing for him, and his mom is freaking out. Its a little short, but you really understand whats happening. If you don't like cliffhangers that are never completed howerer, the book may not be the buy you should do.

If u bought the actual book of "Beautiful Chaos" it includes the whole "Dream Dark" story. :(
I purchased "Dream Dark" thinking there would be more chapters to it then what was supposed to be a preview in "Beautiful Chaos" but I was wrong! That will teach me to read the reviews.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Novella.. BUT February 7, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Love the caster chronicles and love that the authors gave us an extra glimpse of the world of our fave linkcubus. But... I bought this first thinking I must read it before reading beautiful chaos.. only to find that they give you a copy when you buy beautiful chaos. Definitely worth the read.. just skip purchasing it and buy book 3.

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect novella! May 30, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I love novellas. They usually give us a chance to get a more in depth look at a supporting character and in this case, Ethan Wate's best friend, Wesley Lincoln...aka Link. I absolutely love Link so anything I can get with him in it, I'm game. I would have read this even if it was about Linkubus. Yes, if you haven't read this you're probably looking at me like I'm crazy. Linkubus is a nickname he gave himself and I have to say, I absolutely adore this nickname! He's now a quarter incubus and it's just such a creative, catchy name. It's so Link, as well. It fits his personality perfectly.

This is a book, still told from Ethan's point of view, but about how Link realized what had happened to him at the end of BEAUTIFUL DARKNESS. It's quite amusing and you get to see an inside look at his family life with his nutty mother. We also get to see Link and Macon Ravenwood interact a lot and I think I'm going to like this...friendship? I cannot wait to read BEAUTIFUL CHAOS and I totally see how this would've held over people until it was released!

If you're a fan of this series and want something short, fun and all about Link (for the most part), read this! It's nothing something you'd have to read if you follow the series but it's something fun you should read! If you haven't pick up BEAUTIFUL CREATURES then, well, what are you waiting for? Highly recommend this series!

1.0 out of 5 stars No need to read May 27, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
There was no need to purchase/read this book as most of it was in Beautiful Darkness. There was only one scene with Link that was not in the next book and even that was discussed in the next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved this short story.
It filled some spaces from the story. I love it! It's different to get points of views about all the characters from someone other than Ethan Wate.
