Mel Helitzer, a professor of journalism at Ohio University, is the author of the best-selling book on humor writing (Comedy Writing Secrets). As a professor, I'm always grateful for texts which students not only can afford but hold on to even after the course is completed. The new 3rd edition of "The Dream Job: Sports Publicity, Promotion and Marketing" is just that kind of book. It is comprehensive, filled with hundreds of examples and exhibits and wonderfully humorous. Outside of that, I don't think much of it!

Tis book is applicable inside the classroom and out. I first read it for a business class and then later when I got my first job in public realtions. It really helped me understand and familiarize myself with sports PR and PR in general. If you read only one book about public relations I'd recommend you read Guerrilla PR Wired by Michael Levine, but if you can read two I'd read The Dream Job.

"The Dream Job's new third edition means that the best guide to sports marketing has just gotten better. This book is now a must read for every sports industry executive. We agree with the Journal of Sports Marketing who called "The Dream Job" one of the most important books in our field.
