Book Description

What would you do if you found yourself in a dream with the man who got away and realized that he'd slipped into your dream willingly? And he was there to help you find your missing husband?
Tina Greene can't accept the presumed surfing death of her new husband, without a recovered body. Months after signing the death certificate, the Maui dive shop owner trades mourning for saving her business from bankruptcy.
When Jamey Dunn walks back into her life things take a strange turn. He's on leave from his posting in Afghanistan, hoping to unwind from the pressures of war when he realizes that his one love, Tina, is still on Maui.
When Tina starts having strange dreams of her husband Hank, that make her question her sanity and lean heavily on Hank's best friend, Noble, Jamey is desperate to help. He suspects Tina's eerie dreams hold clues to Hank's disappearance, he reveals his unbelievable ability to enter other people's dreams. As Tina, Noble and Jamey attempt to decipher the mystery of Hank's disappearance, grave danger sets in to reveal one of the three is an imposter, one is flirting with insanity and one is a liar.

- Lisa Costantino, Author of Maiden's Veil, Chanticleer Top Pick Women's Fiction 2012

"The author blew my senses with mystery, romance and secrets so deep, dark and dangerous that if this read was a movie it surely would have walked away with every award out there! This read was perfectly balanced and the author achieved the thin line of romance combined with the paranormal world to great perfection! A compelling and magical read!

"One of a kind characters, numerous plot twists and even authentic bonus recipes ensure this story to be a favorite amongst many!"

" LOVED this book. It's little wonder The Dream Jumper's Promise was nominated for Best Indie First Book by IndieRomCom. I got hooked like a mahi mahi in the first chapter. The story cracks along at a taut pace, and it has everything: mystery, suspense, and a romance with deep emotional content."

4.0 out of 5 stars Dreaming of Maui November 28, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A mysterious skill that straddles the line between paranormal and possible, a woman mourning her husband lost at sea, and the sunny embrace of Maui all come together in an evocative narrative that quickly becomes a real page-turner. Tina Greene's struggles with her loss, an unstable friend, an old lover's reappearance, and watery nightmares that may or may not lead her to her husband's body are depicted realistically and, at times, with a refreshing splash of humor. Ms. Hornsby's SCUBA expertise and highly visual descriptions of Maui life made me ache to return to the islands. A very engaging and entertaining beach book--even better, a great winter read for bringing a little Hawaii warmth into colder climes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this book! November 26, 2012

Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I picked up this book because I love Maui, and haven't been able to put it down since! The decription of the experiences on the island make you feel like you are there. The main characters, Tina and Jamey are riveting and have an interesting life and backstory... I just fell in love with them. It is suspenseful so you can't put it down because you want to know what happens next. I love the romance and intrigue as well. I am not finished yet, but am guessing I will be staying up late again tonight to find out what happens.... great first book by Kim Hornsby!

5.0 out of 5 stars Romantic suspense jumps into the paranormal December 4, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a little gem. The story is engaging, the relationship between Tina and Jamey builds nicely, the suspense keeps coming, and there are twists and turns that caught me completely off guard. And it all comes with this great paranormal edge. Just the right kind of book to distract from the daily grind or pack for the plane ride. Love the ending.

3.0 out of 5 stars 3 1/2 Stars June 18, 2013

Good concept. Well developed characters. Knew killer by chapter 8. Knew motive midway through. This book will keep you reading through to the end even if you figure out some main aspects of the plot. My biggest problem was continuity. At several points it would jump to a conclusion or assumed understanding and I'd go back thinking I missed something in the reading. I didn't. Some editing and much better verb tense structure would help the story read more smoothly. I'm not a stickler for grammar but this book, more times than I cared for, had me again, going back thinking I missed a paragraph or conversation when I didn't. Very distracting. Overall it's a good read and I will read her next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reviewed by Desere Steenberg February 1, 2013

I fantasy romance paranormal read that kept me on the edge of my seat with mystery, suspense and loads of action - filled twists and turns so good that I could not figure out what would happen next and how it would come to an end. And that my dear reader friends is a excellent sign that this book was a fantastic read.

As most times with a mystery filled book I always manage to solve the hidden secrets before they are fully exposed, but with this one I could not get it right, every time I thought "By Joe I got it!" I was quickly thrown of track and surprised with a whole new outcome.

The book is about Tina a woman that finds it understandably very hard to get over the death of her husband, but from the depths of her sorrow she pulls herself together and decides saving her diving shop will keep her not only from not focusing on her loss but also will save her business. So she sets to work but unexpectedly she finds herself with the help of two men, one her dead husband's best friend and the other her ex. Both men want to help her but when one reveals that he has a ability to enter dreams and therefore could just maybe solve her husband's murder the race to solve a mystery and keep their heads above water is on!

And what a race it was, I was completely sucked in by this one. The author blew my senses with mystery, romance and secrets so deep, dark and dangerous that it this read was a movie it surly would have walked away with every award out there!

2.0 out of 5 stars Seemed Like a Great Idea! February 10, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
But the book was sluggish, and like someone else noted, the characters weren't really given enough story to understand them, except in flashback reveals.

I thought I'd really like the dream idea but a huge spoiler in the book left me so creeped out that it was hard to enjoy any of it after the "big reveal."

It was like watching a tv show where usually you know everything the tv character doesn't and can see things coming at you, but in reverse. I hate it when things happen in a book that there's no way I could have known could possibly happen - that's as close as I can come without spoiling it.

Plus the characters were not really likable, in a weird way. For example Tina wanted a baby and when she finds out her ex had twins she feels entitled to sulk and hate on him for having TWO of the "things" she wanted. Yeah, that's how it felt - things. Either she was that unattached to the whole world, or jus that attached to a dead man? but most of the story was like experiencing life on "mute."

The author was trying as hard as possible to make her sympathetic, but I found her more on the side of simply seeming pathetic much too often; or blind, or just a perennial victim for which there was no explanation for, since she'd come from such privilege. But then I like really strong non victim like protagonists.....cuz, ya know, life is hard for everyone - the true story is in how you handle that.

So, for me the whole inclusion of "paranormal" events just felt like back up for that characterization, and that was a let down.
