Book Description

Tina Green’s husband is presumed dead from a Maui surfing accident and now she’s being haunted by otherwordly dreams. When former boyfriend, Jamey Dunn, turns up at her Lahaina dive shop and offers to help, she can’t believe his preposterous claim -- he can enter dreams. Along with her friend, Noble, they piece together clues to her husband’s disappearance, but secrets, lies, and heartbreak rise to the ugly surface to reveal that one person is an impostor, one a traitor, and one is flirting with insanity.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Hornsby has written a fascinating and engaging paranormal romance, skillfully presenting both Tina's mourning and a vivid picture of Hawaiian culture. The relationship between Jamey and Tina and Tina's love for Hank are believable and richly portrayed."
- Publisher's Weekly

"A mysterious skill that straddles the line between paranormal and possible, a woman mourning her husband lost at sea, and the sunny embrace of Maui all come together in an evocative narrative that quickly becomes a real page-turner."
- Lisa Costantino, Author of Maiden's Veil, Chanticleer Top Pick Women's Fiction 2012

"The author blew my senses with mystery, romance and secrets so deep, dark and dangerous that if this read was a movie it surely would have walked away with every award out there! This read was perfectly balanced and the author achieved the thin line of romance combined with the paranormal world to great perfection! A compelling and magical read!
- Desere Steenberg, Romance Book Haven

"One of a kind characters, numerous plot twists and even authentic bonus recipes ensure this story to be a favorite amongst many!"
Jaime A. Geraldi, InD'Tale Magazine

" LOVED this book. It's little wonder The Dream Jumper's Promise was nominated for Best Indie First Book by IndieRomCom. I got hooked like a mahi mahi in the first chapter. The story cracks along at a taut pace, and it has everything: mystery, suspense, and a romance with deep emotional content."

4.0 out of 5 stars Dreaming of Maui November 28, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A mysterious skill that straddles the line between paranormal and possible, a woman mourning her husband lost at sea, and the sunny embrace of Maui all come together in an evocative narrative that quickly becomes a real page-turner. Tina Greene's struggles with her loss, an unstable friend, an old lover's reappearance, and watery nightmares that may or may not lead her to her husband's body are depicted realistically and, at times, with a refreshing splash of humor. Ms. Hornsby's SCUBA expertise and highly visual descriptions of Maui life made me ache to return to the islands. A very engaging and entertaining beach book--even better, a great winter read for bringing a little Hawaii warmth into colder climes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this book! November 26, 2012

I picked up this book because I love Maui, and haven't been able to put it down since! The decription of the experiences on the island make you feel like you are there. The main characters, Tina and Jamey are riveting and have an interesting life and backstory... I just fell in love with them. It is suspenseful so you can't put it down because you want to know what happens next. I love the romance and intrigue as well. I am not finished yet, but am guessing I will be staying up late again tonight to find out what happens.... great first book by Kim Hornsby!

5.0 out of 5 stars Romantic suspense jumps into the paranormal December 4, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a little gem. The story is engaging, the relationship between Tina and Jamey builds nicely, the suspense keeps coming, and there are twists and turns that caught me completely off guard. And it all comes with this great paranormal edge. Just the right kind of book to distract from the daily grind or pack for the plane ride. Love the ending.

3.0 out of 5 stars 3 1/2 Stars June 18, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Good concept. Well developed characters. Knew killer by chapter 8. Knew motive midway through. This book will keep you reading through to the end even if you figure out some main aspects of the plot. My biggest problem was continuity. At several points it would jump to a conclusion or assumed understanding and I'd go back thinking I missed something in the reading. I didn't. Some editing and much better verb tense structure would help the story read more smoothly. I'm not a stickler for grammar but this book, more times than I cared for, had me again, going back thinking I missed a paragraph or conversation when I didn't. Very distracting. Overall it's a good read and I will read her next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reviewed by Desere Steenberg February 1, 2013

I fantasy romance paranormal read that kept me on the edge of my seat with mystery, suspense and loads of action - filled twists and turns so good that I could not figure out what would happen next and how it would come to an end. And that my dear reader friends is a excellent sign that this book was a fantastic read.

As most times with a mystery filled book I always manage to solve the hidden secrets before they are fully exposed, but with this one I could not get it right, every time I thought "By Joe I got it!" I was quickly thrown of track and surprised with a whole new outcome.

The book is about Tina a woman that finds it understandably very hard to get over the death of her husband, but from the depths of her sorrow she pulls herself together and decides saving her diving shop will keep her not only from not focusing on her loss but also will save her business. So she sets to work but unexpectedly she finds herself with the help of two men, one her dead husband's best friend and the other her ex. Both men want to help her but when one reveals that he has a ability to enter dreams and therefore could just maybe solve her husband's murder the race to solve a mystery and keep their heads above water is on!

And what a race it was, I was completely sucked in by this one. The author blew my senses with mystery, romance and secrets so deep, dark and dangerous that it this read was a movie it surly would have walked away with every award out there!

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific Read! January 18, 2014
Format:Paperback
I loved this book. Its a blend of fantasy, romance, and suspense. Well developed characters and enough intrigue to try to figure things out myself. I was right on a few counts, and wrong as well. The whole 'dream jumping' premise if fantastical enough to allow you to leave reality behind and just enjoy the ride. Kim developed her characters well and I found myself invested in all of them, and hoping for a good outcome. I had a hard time putting it down! I also appreciated the little bit of romance without feeling the need to go for tons of explicit details. Great great book, I look forward to the next in the series. And thats saying something for me!

5.0 out of 5 stars A suspenseful mystery with a lot to offer it's readers February 2, 2014
By mel
Format:Kindle Edition
A suspenseful novel with a mix of love and mystery, what more could a reader ask for? I loved how well Hornsby worked in all the characters together. She really knew how to play each piece in an effective way that will keep her readers intrigued and satisfied. I was also able to feel attached to this book, as if I was actually in it myself! Such a great plot with just enough detail too.

As with any great mystery, Hank (the person in question of his absence) will keep you guessing all the way through. And Tina, the main character has a lot to take on as she struggles to find her way back to peace from her husband’s cryptic death. Other people come into play to make matters more complicated for Tina, and in the end all is revealed after one fascinating journey.

Loved this book, and now I have to go to Maui!

3.0 out of 5 stars but for the most part it was a good book.
Some parts were confusing because the author took the characters back into their pasts, but for the most part it was a good book.
