2.0 out of 5 stars Don't be fooled. This is NOT a book about dream work.
This is a Wicca 101 book in disguise. I have an interest in dream recall, alternate conscious states and lucid dreaming. This is not what I expected. This author teaches how to set up an altar, cast a circle and spellcast under the guise of 'dream magic'. Nice marketing ploy.

5.0 out of 5 stars No ordinary dream book--it's filled with magic & enchantment, December 5, 2000
This review is from: Dream Magic: Night Spells and Rituals for Love, Prosperity and Personal Power (Paperback)
From time to time, we have all wished that at least one of our dreams could come true. Dream Magic is for those wanting to go beyond the wishing stage. It is for those who believe they can make it happen.

This is an awesome collection of spells and rituals, meant to be performed around bedtime, in order to stimulate dreams that guide the dreamer on the path towards cherished goals or desires. The dreamer consciously attempts to steer dreams toward a goal or purpose, then takes the information gleaned in the night, and applies it towards acheiving a goal in their waking world.

Sirona Knight, co-author and creator of the imaginative Shapeshifter Tarot, has assembled over 100 rituals of varying difficulty, to assist readers in empowering their dreams. The chapters subdivide dream spells by subject: Love Dream Magic, Money & Success Dream Magic, Self-Empowerment Dream Magic, and Health, Beauty and Wellness Dream Magic.

The Practical Dream Magic chapter covers some unique areas, such as a "You've Got Mail-Cyber Ritual" (designed to bring you great e-mail and less spam), a "Pet Protection Moon Spell", several vacation dream spells, and one to help problem-solve through your dreams. The Divine Dreams chapter covers psychic/prophetic dreaming, dreaming your power animal, time travel and more.

Each individual working features a general description or purpose, magical/astrological timing for the exercise, a list of items needed, and tells how to perform the spell. They are creatively crafted, including many evocative invocations by Knight to set the mood right.

She provides appropriate background to the art of dream magic, explains how to create a dream altar, summon dream guardians, and describes the basic components needed to perform dream magic rites. She includes a list of helpful dream deities and a bibliography at the back of the book.

Although the book is very accessible to beginners in magic and spellwork, I suggest beginners get some general background first on magic and spellcrafting. This is an excellent resource for those daring to believe that they can make their dreams a reality.

5.0 out of 5 stars IF YOU CAN DREAM IT!, October 3, 2000
This review is from: Dream Magic: Night Spells and Rituals for Love, Prosperity and Personal Power (Paperback)
"Dream Magic" adds new meaning to the old phrase 'Let's sleep on it!' Sirona has combined magical spellcraft with the Dream State to bring a waking merging with the divine. With reading ease, her book explains the steps in which we can first bring our conscious through into our dreamtime, and then bring the world of our dreams into our waking reality. If you can dream it, this book can help you realize your dream's potential reality and the reality of your dream's potential.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic book!, December 24, 2001

Not only does Sirona give over 100 fantastic spells that I highly recommend, but introduces Wicca to the reader, instructing them on making an alter and moon phases. Some of the spells are a bit advanced, but this book is pretty much begginer friendly. Whether you're just starting out or have been practicing for 9 years, make sure to pick up this book!

I think this is an AWESOME dream book! I read Knight's EMPOWERING YOUR LIFE WITH DREAMS and liked it so much I bought this one too. There are several powerful dream rituals in this book that I have tried and have had great success with. I'm a lucid dreamer now!

4.0 out of 5 stars Create Your Magical Journey, December 14, 2005
This review is from: Dream Magic: Night Spells and Rituals for Love, Prosperity and Personal Power (Paperback)
As a writer whose audience includes all faiths and paths, I'm torn as to how to review this book. "Dream Magic" will appeal to those who practice new age and nature-based paths but its valuable information will be lost on those who view the published genre as too "alternative" or "evil." Those with an aversion to practicing "magic" are likely to dismiss the tools in this book instead of adapting them to their own beliefs. That's a shame, because they'll really miss out.

Knight's tips and exercises, i.e., "spells," have great value for developing the ability to dream regularly, lucidly and to apply the wisdom of dreams to resolving issues and problems in waking life. Her ideas enable one to take an active part in their own nocturnal journey, an important tool for lucid dreaming.

My favorite, and what I see as the most important - and sensible - tool offered, is the idea of a "dream altar." Translated into non-magical terms, cleaning up your sleeping environment and spending some time creating intentional space and focus for dreaming can do a great deal to induce dreams and lead to the development of skills. For instance, using the bedroom to catch up on work and trying to sleep amid piles of paper can cause us to carry that stress into our sleep and dreams. Setting up an altar or dream space can boost the common practice of writing a question in your dream journal.
Since reading this book, I have set up a small dream altar on my nightstand that offers a bonus - I am reminded of my goals each time I am in my bedroom.

Even if you don't use all of the ideas presented, this book can be very valuable in helping you design your personal dream journey.

2.0 out of 5 stars Had Potential, but made a U-Turn., September 7, 2005
By
Laura Brickman (Salinas, CA, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dream Magic: Night Spells and Rituals for Love, Prosperity and Personal Power (Paperback)
I had a lot of high hopes for this book. Sirona Knight has obvious experience with magic, and talent with the pen. Dream Magic starts out weakly, yet another book that feels the need to defend itself in the first few chapters. (The usual, and far too often repeated magic isn't Satanism, Some Christians aren't that understanding...blah blah blah.) Then I started to really enjoy myself while working through her versions of quarter calling, circle castings, and astral meditations. However, I expected her to go into more advanced studies...or further details and she never did. The start of what could be an awesome book drops off into a number of love and wealth spells. What a let down.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Nice Cookbook for the Beginner to Intermediate Practitioner, October 23, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Dream Magic: Night Spells and Rituals for Love, Prosperity and Personal Power (Paperback)
Sirona Knight's book on Dream Magic provides a solid foundation for the practice of magic in and around sleep. The reader should have a good working knowledge of magic theory before picking up the book, as the work provides little of that. Without the prep and background that would be provided in other books, this is just another wierd list of spells, smells and bells. With a background and proper preparation, however, the book proves to be a pretty powerful tome - full of useful ritual and spell ideas. Each ritual is well documented, and the needs list both in summary form at the beginning of the book, as well as at each ritual makes it very practical to use. Like a cookbook, if you know how to cook already, you can make some great stuff with the recipies. If you don't, the book won't teach you how. Same here...
