Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly-

At a time when the country is in dire need of a jolt to revive the spirits of many Americans, this decidedly progressive work by the SEE Innovation Project seeks to deliver such a spark. Using statistics-some depressing, others eye-opening-to outline the problems facing the country, the book breaks ranks from much of the public discourse that focuses solely on what's wrong with the country by collecting numerous experts' recommendations about what can be done to turn the country around. Suggestions range from what individuals can do to improve the environment-switch to more energy-efficient light bulbs, for example-to steps the government can take to improve the quality of healthcare. Miller uses a perfect blend of text and graphics to spell out what can and should be done to move the country forward; a must-read for anyone who wants to be a part of the solution.

"Dream of a Nation is a rare gem. It is a must-read for anyone who hopes for solutions to many of the biggest challenges of our time."--Noelle Skodzinski, Book Business

"The most important thing humanity can do is believe in itself. That we can grow, we can change, we can rouse ourselves in time to make big changes happen. Dream of a Nation encourages movement in this direction. It offers hundreds of ideas and examples of how smart, committed and daring we can be and is a treasure house of actions that have been shown to work, with pages of information, comprehensible illustrations, and faces of hope."--Alice Walker

"The perfect blend of text and graphics to spell out what can and should be done to move the country forward. A must read for anyone that wants to be a part of the solution."--Publishers Weekly

"At a time when America's challenges seem greater than ever, when polarization threatens to leave us permanently divided, Dream of a Nation reminds us of what we have in common-and all that we can build when we work together. From politics to the environment to the media, the work in Dream of a Nation points the way towards a better and more equitable future. The blueprint is here-we just have to follow it."--TIME Magazine, Bryan Walsh

"In the age of Red states and Blue states, where even issues like ensuring the health of our children or preserving our natural resources have become highly politicized, Dream of a Nation moves us past party lines and into the realm of what is possible. This important work guides even the most disillusioned of us toward innovative measures that, if implemented, could benefit society in amazing ways and make citizen activists out of us all. Inspiring!"--Huffington Post, Jennifer Grayson

I'm a 75 year old grandmother who is fast running out of hope for this world. Then I read "Dream of a Notion-Inspiring Ideas for a Better America".Sure,I'm an Australian but the problems are pretty much the same. This book is a series of essays by people involved in their topics such as Peace and Environmental Defense. Once the problem is identified and measured, the essays are followed by descriptions of organisations established to deal with them. And, to my amazement, there are thousands of people working for the good of others out there - people who are committed to the welfare of others and the world we live in. Great Stuff!!!

I could not put Dream of a Nation down, it filled me with possibility and hope for our country. I learned what so many individuals and organizations are doing, working together, across many fields. There are 60+ contributing essays with wonderful graphics and pictures. This book is a practical guide that provides clear, common sense stewardship for our country. My hope is that Dream of a Nation will be read by politicians, educators, economists, scientists, business owners, students, environmentalists, the general population and anyone who wants to learn how to envision a collectively strong future. This book shows us how to work for the common good in ways that not only provide for ourselves, but also the next 7 generations would know we'd stood together to provide for them as well.
