We had no issues at all with the condition of the cribs (we ordered 2 as we have twins). Both were packaged well and arrived in perfect shape. They are very easy to put together. The part the mattress lays on is metal springs instead of a wooden board which most cribs use. The mattress can be placed at 3 levels, suitable for newborns up to toddlers. The mini size is perfect for small homes or bedrooms. I would not call it a portable crib, since it does not fold (so no bringing it to Grandmas house unless you unscrew it completely) I have only two issues with the crib which lead me to give it 4 instead of 5 stars.
#1 the mattress is AWFUL. I'm not a very picky person, but they may as well add $20 to the price and give you something you can actually use. The nattress is so thin on the corners that it's flat! It is about 1" thick and made of very poor quality foam covered in cheap plastic. If you squeeze the mattress between your fingers, it goes completely flat. I would never put a baby on it when the mattress is being supported by metal springs. Ouch!
#2 they do not give you anything to cover the screws so there are holes in the bedframe. The screws are gold in color, I suppose they think that it's decorative. I would prefer to have something cover them.
Other than those two things, the crib is very nice! The wood is solid and thick. The crib is very sturdy. My 5 year old climbed in to play and it didn't budge. I like that it can transition to a day bed and then twin size (rails can be purchased at any mattress store). Set up as a twin bed, it reminds me of a sleigh style bed. All in all, a nice crib that will take your child right into childhood.

We bought this crib to put in our bedroom as space is tight. It came in great condition and was easy to put together. It looks very nice and we receive many compliments that it looks great with our own dark finish bedroom furniture. We have only had our 6 week old baby sleep in it a few times. He is still sleeping in the bassinet with an incline. The size is great, no need for a "regular" sized crib. The only reason this crib does not get 5 stars is due to the mattress. It is very thin, 1"-1.5", I cant remember. I am thinking of buying a 3" mini crib mattress to put in it.

I did not purchase this mini crib from Amazon, although I wish that I had. While experiencing a strong nesting urge, I bought mine and one of those fancy baby stores...and paid too much. But I still LOVE this crib.
It has three mattress positions so it is nice and high for a newborn. Should the mother need to have a c-section, she won't have to bend over to get to baby. The middle height is just low enough that baby can roll over and sit up without fear of falling out, but still be high enough that it's easy to reach him/her. The lowest position for the mattress is perfect for baby that is able to pull themselves up to standing.
Someone had stated that their baby had already outgrown the crib at only 7 months. Personally, I don't see how that is possible unless the baby is Shaq's child. :) The mattress size recommended for this crib is 37 1/4" by 23 3/4" and not exceeding 2 inches in thickness. I have a mattress that fits those measurements perfectly and it is very snug. If the mattress were even a 1/4 inch more in any way, it would not fit at all. But if a 7 month old is taller than 36 inches (3 feet), then that baby needs to be on Ripley's Believe It or Not!
The bed can be converted into a toddler bed by removing the front bar and grate. In my opinion, I don't see the toddler bed feature being used past the age of 2. Even then it may be a bit tight depending on how the baby sleeps. I plan to concert the crib to a toddler bed when my little one turns 1 and into a twin bed for the following birthday.
The twin bed set up is for a universal mattress rail. The holes are pre-drilled so that the rail can be secured to the headboard and footboard. There are no additional slates needed and no additional cost to convert it. I really like that part!

Great product and looks nice, but my grandson grew out of it too soon, he is very long, so only lasted 7 months for him, but other than that it is a good crib for small area

The bad:

1.This crib does NOT have a newborn height. The three settings it comes with are low, lower and lowest. If you want newborn height, you have to use the "highest" setting but make it so the mattress part is sitting on top of those three inch metal tabs instead of hanging from them (that sounds really confusing unless you're familiar with cribs and the metal spring frame thing that the mattresses sit on). This would be an acceptable (and perhaps even intentional) solution, except for the fact that the mattress now tilts one way or another because of how it's resting on the stupid support tabs. Not a HUGE tilt, but very noticeable and enough to make baby end up on one side after a bit of moving around.

2. Also, there's a reeeally annoying sticker (as seen in the picture) that's highly visible and you cannot remove it without a lot of work. I understand the need for warnings in this day and age, but why does the sticker have to be freaking fossilized onto the thing?

3. Assembling it was a bit of a headache because the instructions kept referring to piece A, B, C, etc but there were no labels on the actual pieces. On that, apparently, the manufacturer decided to get skimpy with the blasted stickers. Also, one of the bolts was machined improperly and there was no hole for the allen wrench to go into. I called the manufacturer's number but it was after hours so I got a voice mail box that was full and could not take more messages. Hmm...not exactly a good sign, I'm thinking. I tightened the bolt with a pair of pliers and called it done.

4. Speaking of stickers, the big annoying one I mentioned earlier states very clearly that you should NEVER use a mattress more than two inches thick with this crib.
