I enjoyed seeing Hollywood and Beverly Hills after reading this book It brought the history alive. It was excellently written and I would like to se more.

Excellent architectural and home decor history book from an era of extremes. My wife and I were able to locate many properties at our leisure using this book. Excellent historical reference book for any movie fan regarding personal architectural lifestyles of the first dream palaces. Silent film star Harold Lloyd's Greenacres Mansion acreage has been subdivided, but still magnificent. It's cool to be able to put a real live residence with an image on film from long ago. Rudolph Valentino's residence is certainly located above all Beverly Hills. Pickfair, even the newer version, is wonderful! Fun and interesting book!

I've read this book several times. Beverly Hills is one of my favorite places and I been to several of the houses described in this book. The maps are accurate and the stories about the stars are fabulous. I highly recommend it.

If you like architecture and gossip about silent screen idols this is a great book. I do and the price was right...
