1.0 out of 5 stars ... MANUFACTURED POP COMIN' RIGHT UP!
This has to be the worst album I have ever listened to in my entire life. I am a pop fan (I like BSB; some of Britney, 'N SYNC, Mandy and Christina, I'll admit that much) myself, but this boyband is just full of tasteless music. Their vocals may harmonize, but the music is horrible. One star out of five for having good vocals, but the rest goes down the drain. And the...

I loved the songs and I take offense at the people that think you have to be a "mindless preteen" to enjoy this (i am over 13). They also say that this is not REAL MUSIC. Well, most of the punk rock bands out here DO NOT produce REAL music: it's basically yelling.

But back to the point. Dream Street is not only for "mindless preteens". It is for anyone who loves pop or loves different types of music. Their voices maybe not have hit puberty yet, but they still sound good. And their harmony is pretty good. My favorite song is "Gotta Get The Girl". It has an enjoyable tune and it makes you wanna hear it again and again (trust me, i have listened to the clip of this whole CD a thousand times.)

In conclusion i reccommend Dream Street to anyone who loves Pop Music, or cute guys that can sing and dance (lol).

I absolutly LOVE this CD! I didn't think that the songs were great when I only heard bits of them on television, but when I listened to the entire songs I became a big fan! Now I can't stop listining to the CD, I just love it! I think that the lyrics are great too, they are so true! I also think that they have great voices, I don't think that their voices are too high, but just right. I think that everyone my age and lots of other people would like this CD much better if they actually listen to it and give it a chance!

5.0 out of 5 stars Dream Street is the best!, November 21, 2001

This review is from: Dream Street (Audio CD)
When a lot of people see a comcerical for a new group they think, "Not another boy band!" But, Dream Street is different. Their album includes ballads, rock songs, and pop. They all have their own solos on a song on the cd, and their voices are perfect. When many people figure out that Dream Street and A*Teens have the same song ("Sugar Rush") they think DReam Street copied the A*Teens, but really Dream Street recorded it first. Chris Trousdale, Jesse McCartney, Frankie Galasso, Matt Ballinger, and Greg Raposo are the best and are really sweet! It's a 10 star cd!!! At first, I wasn't sure I would like them, but now I'm totally obsessed with them. They are great and really sweet! If you are into groups like BSB or *N SYNC, you should get this cd! I don't know if you'll like it better, but I do! Dream Street rocks! They are also active in other singing stuff so they've had experience. Greg and Chris appear on a couple "Broadway Kids" cd, and Jesse is on a couple "Sugar Beats" cds. These guys are really talented and deserve to be #1!

5.0 out of 5 stars Dream Street sure to make it big!, July 19, 2001

This review is from: Dream Street (Audio CD)
This CD is one of the best CDs out there. Many people who have written negatively about this group obviously doesn't know the talent that those 5 guys possess. The "twirling around" or so you call it, is some of the best choreography I have ever seen, and Chris from the group has been dancing since he was about 5 and now attends a highly prestigious performing arts school as well as a highly prestigious dance school. Their voices may be high on the CD, but the boys voices have changed and are better than ever. You must have never seen them live, cuz these guys put so much energy and charisma into their performances that I still leave wondering how on earth they do it. This CD, being their debut, is absolutely wonderful! The songs are catchy, the ballads heart-melting, and the guys have the most incredible voices. And now, to top it all off, this 'wanna-be' boyband as some may call it, has debuted on the billboard top 200 and #45. Many people have told me that Dream Street would never make it, but ya know what? Looks to me like thats just what they're doing... makin it big in the music business. Track reviews:

1. Feel the Rain- 8/10 the live version is better :o)

2. They Don't Understand- 9/10 love the beat, and the "non-pokemon" version

3. It Happens Every Time- 10/10 this was the first Dream Street song I ever heard, and I have never gotten sick of it.

4. Gotta Get The Girl- 8/10 Love the beat and Jesse sings it very well.

5. Sugar Rush- 10/10 Perfect 10, DS sings it better than the A*Teens in my opinion.

6. Jennifer Goodbye- 9/10 this has always been a favorite of mine, maybe because Greg sings it, but I love the emotion put into it, and its a pretty song.

7. I Say Yeah- 10/10 YEAHHHHHH! I think that says it all. hehe

8. Matter of Time- 9/10 I love this song. Lot's of people consider it a love song but I think it can be interpreted differently.

9. Let's Get Funky Tonite- 10/10 I LOVE this song!!! It's very catchy and a definite "boogie down" tune! lol!

10. This Time- 9/10 I adore this song. Its sooo pretty! THe vocals are amazing and when Frankie hits that high note... *chills*

11. Hooked on You- 9/10 LOVE IT! I love the rap in the middle, very hot!

12. Someone To Hold Me Tonight- 9/10 I like this song a lot, but I live it would get a ten. :o)

13. Dream On- 10/10 This song is so inspirational. Frankie's vocals are absolutely breath-taking. The harmonies are tight and the song is just beautiful in general!

I know I gave lots of 10s but thats how much i LOVE this CD!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best the pop scene has seen!!!, November 17, 2001
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Dream Street (Audio CD)
If you are a pop music/boy band fan and haven't gotten this CD, you are missing something. Here's my opinion on the 13 songs.
1)Feel the Rain-Definatly wins the award for "weirdest" song title, but i don't know how you can not love the harmony on the song!

2)They Don't Understand-An awesome song that was origianally on the Pokemon sound track with different lyrics. One of my least faves on the record because it doesn't really show their talent.

3)It Happens Everytime-You have probaly all heard this one. Even though they sound extra young on the track, the vid really hows how well these boys can dance!!! (especially Chris)

4)Gotta Get The Girl- Jesse McCartney's solo song which really doesn't do anything to showcase his voice at all compared to some of the other guy's songs. Not my fave song...

5)Sugar Rush-Yes A*Teens sing this exact song too. I have heard their version, and the harmony and talent in Dream Street is better!

6)Jennifer Goodbye-Greg Raposo's solo song. The best ballad i've heard in a long time. You can tell this boy has had vocal training, plus experiance from a children's Broadway group, Broadway Kids.

7)I Say Yeah-The guys second single. One of the best dance songs on the record!"..hold you in the moonlight..." i wish!!! lol

8)Matter of Time-Awesome lyrics and really good background vocals

9)Let's Get Funky Tonite-Another awesome dance song! Another song that doesn't let the guys show how good they sing.

10)This Time-A AWESOME song. Meaningful lyrics, cool music, and soulful singing make this song a hit with me.

11)Hooked On You-Matt Ballinger's solo song. Could have done better on the style of the song. It makes Matt sound like he's just an Aaron Carter wanna be...he's not, did you see Aaron on Broadway because he had talent?!? He was only there so the show would get more people. I DO love Aaron...

12)Someone To Hold Me Tonight-Chris Trousdale's solo song. Chris could not have done any better on the vocals for this song! Besides, it's a ballad...you gotta love it. VERY SWEET!!!

13)Dream On-Frankie Galasso's solo song. The most meaningful song on the album. "..every cloud has a silver lining, just believe and the sun will shine..". VERY Meaningful, VERY good vocals, This boy's got TALENT!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Dream Street, February 26, 2002

Miranda Lee (Minneapolis, Minnesota) - See all my reviews

Yes, yes we hear it all over the radio and some of us wonder when teen pop will finally end. Dream Street is no exception to flashy choregraphed moves and cheesy love songs but that doesn't neccesarily mean that theres anything wrong with this sort of thing. The first time I saw the advertisment for the new Dream Street cd and heard the song "It happens everytime" I positivley rolled my eyes and thought "Oh goody, more Backstreet Boys wannabes" but shortly after I began to listen to other songs, I realized how catchy these are. Maybe thats where all the power is? That you just can't get these songs out of your head. "I say Yeah" is your typical pop song that somehow never fails to make you want to sing along and reminds you of summers past. Both " Gotta Get the Girl" and "Feel the Rain" are equally as catchy and upbeat. This is well balanced out with "Dream On" and "Someone to hold me tonight" which are cheesy, but touching never the less. I loved this album, but I suppose it all depends on your taste in music. If you simply cannot stomach pure pop music, then this is definatley not the album for you. But if pop music is the thing you like the most, then this album will have you hooked on Dream Street in no time at all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dream Street is AWESOME!!!, July 31, 2001
This review is from: Dream Street (Audio CD)
I found out about these boys last summer and couldn't wait for their CD to come out! Unfortunatly, it kept getting delayed (which I'm sure has to do with the boys' extremely busy schedules!), and I was wondering if it was ever going to get released! Of course, it finally did and I bought it right away. And I'm SO glad I did!!! This is one of my favorite CDs... I've been listening to it non-stop since I got it! :-)

I have to say this- I believe that the coolest thing about these 5 guys is that they all have absolutely wonderful voices. Maybe a little young sounding, but they are perfectly clear and no 'nasal-ness' at all! Not to rag on NSYNC or BSB, cause I do like those bands, but I don't think every guy in those bands has fabulous voices. Not so with Dream Street! Besides obvious natural talent, they have definitely had some good vocal training and I'm sure their Broadway experiences have helped them a lot too. (BTW, I know for a fact that DS member Greg Raposo used to be a Broadway Kid and you can hear one of his solos, "Hair", on the Broadway Kids' CD, "Broadway Kids Back On Broadway". I also know DS member Matt Ballinger was one of the Von Trapp kids in the Broadway musical, Sound of Music, a few years ago.) As you can also see from watching their music video of their hit single, "It Happens Everytme", the guys are also great dancers, especially Christopher Trousdale. I'm not going to say which guy I think is the best singer, because I think they all are pretty equal in talent. :-)

I've made quick reviews of each track on their album for you to read in case you haven't heard of any of their songs- 1) Feel the Rain- Catchy song! I didn't care for it too much at first, but I like it a lotnow. It really grows on you, and is a great song to start the album off with. (8/10) 2) They Don't Understand- Some may have heard this song off the Pokemon soundtrack...I really like one, too! It has a VERY cool sound and it's so catchy! I love the mechanical voice in the one part!! :-D (9/10) 3) It Happens Everytime- This is one of my three VERY favorites off the album!! A great decision for their first single!! I fell in love with this one right away, the vocals are great and it's just such a cute song! I love the video too. :-) (10/10) 4) Gotta Get the Girl- One of the two songs that I don't really love off this album. I don't care for the sound and, this may be silly, but I really don't like the way they pronounce "girl"! It sounds so weird!! :-P I couldn't even tell what they were saying at first. But they did right in giving this song mainly to Jesse who really pulls it off! (That boy can sing!!) (6/10) 5) Sugar Rush- Another one of my three absolute favorites on the album. I don't know whether this is the same Sugar Rush song that the A*Teens sing, but I can't imagine anyone doing it better than Dream Street does it! This song is so pretty and it's really catchy. It should be their next single! (10/10) 6) Jennifer Goodbye- This is one of their slower songs. Greg sings it, and he has an awesome voice!! He puts a lot of feeling into it, too, which makes me like it even more. This one has EXCEELENT backround by the Dream Street guys- their harmony really stands out in this one! (9/10) 7) I Say Yeah- My third 'absolute favorite'. :-) Unfortunatly, this song is the shortest on the album, but it doesn't need to be long for it to grow on you!! If you don't like the way it sounds in the beginning, at least keep listening till you get to the chorus! The chorus is so catchy!! (10/10) 8) Matter of Time- This is sort of a slower song, it's really pretty anyway. I love the chorus in this one, too. (9/10) 9) Let's Get Funky Tonite- Ok, this is the definitely the 'dance tune' off the album!! :-D It's very 'funky' and it really makes you want to dance!! This might be their next single. (8/10) 10) This Time- The other song on the album I don't really care for too much. I DO like it, it's growing on me still, I just don't care for it as much as the others. :-) (7/10) 11) Hooked on You- lol!! This song cracks me up more than anything! It has kind of an 80's dance tune sound to me, but you have to love it! This is Matt's big solo song and he does a great job. Listen for his 'rap' near the end! It's so cute! :-D (8/10) 12) Someone to Hold Me Tonight- Kind of a ballad song, it's very very pretty and Chris's vocals on it are very commendable. The 'oohh oohh's, 'whoa ohh's, 'wow ows' and 'yeahs' in the chorus get a little annoying after a while, but the song is so pretty and sweet it doesn't really take away. (9/10) 13) Dream On- Finally Frankie gets a good solo! :-) I feel like of all the guys, he gets stuck in the back most, vocal wise anyway. I don't know why though, cause he has a great voice too. (Like I said, they ALL are terrific vocalists.) Anyway, this is the only song of the album that doesn't have anything to do with love, it's more inspirational and very pretty. Placed at a great spot on the album- a good song to end on. The backround vocals on this song are AMAZING and really shows off their talent as a group. (9/10)

Over all, I definitely give this album 5 stars, and if you haven't bought it yet, for shame! :-) These guys are awesome, and I know you'll really like this album. Unless of course you hate boybands... but if you like pop music in general, youhave to buy this CD! I hope to see a lot of these guys in the future, and I think I will. :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars Dream Street is Dreamy!, July 17, 2001
This review is from: Dream Street (Audio CD)
This CD is a really great CD for pop music lovers everywhere. Dream Street is not only a true boy band (all members are 16 or under), but they really sing pop music, not rappy-alternativey-latiny pop, like many bands do now. Dream Street not only plays great music, there's a lot of variety in their songs and each member has a distinctive voice. There are 13 songs on their CD, and the only one I don't really like is "Hooked on You". The CD is also a HyperCD, but it's kind of slow and the page that opens the video is often busy, but it's a really cool CD even if you just listen to the music. The five member of DS are Chris (the hot one), Jesse (the youngest one), Greg (the coolest voice), Matt (the other lead singer besides Jesse), and Frank (who sings the low part, usually). Dream Street is a really excellent pop CD, and you'll like it even if you usually don't like pop music too much. Definitely 5-stars! ****

A Kid's Review

OK, let me say this right now and clear it up: Those who say Dream Street sucks (gasp!!) are wrong. I dont't see YOU getting up in front of a couple thousand people and making them happy (one of the main reasons Dream Street rocks!). :-) All those people say it, say it because 'They Don't Don't Understand' what good music is!

My second point? They are SO CUTE! My favorite is Greg and he is my 'Sugar Rush'! And all you Greg fans gotta agree, he said 'Jennifer Goodbye' to say hello to us!

My favorite songs on this CD are 'It Happens Every Time', 'I Say Yeah', 'Hooked On You', 'Someone To Hold Me Tonight', 'They Don't Understand", and well, all of them! So, if you are a fan, buy this CD! It won't be a waste! Trust me, this comes from a person who KNOWS good music!
