Something for the newer guitarists,
By Brian (US) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dream Theater: Falling into Infinity (Authentic Guitar-Tab) (Paperback)
Great album and even better TAB book. This was edited by John Petrucci, so what's in this book is what he plays and how he plays it. This album has less of the 64-th note solos for 20 pages, so there is a lot more us learning guitarists can play with. A definite plus

Guitar Transcriptions and Notation for DT's latest album,
By A Customer
This review is from: Dream Theater: Falling into Infinity (Authentic Guitar-Tab) (Paperback)
A must have for any DT fan that has some talent and ambition. This album is a bit more 'practical' for younger musicians wanting to learn a bit more on Petrucci's style and licks. The guitar parts are somewhat toned down and less 'showy' than those on previous DT albums, but the songs presented here are WELL worth the book.

Dream Theater and the Mind of Don Ray Jr.,
By Don Ray (AZ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dream Theater: Falling into Infinity (Authentic Guitar-Tab) (Paperback)
When I first opened the book, I was lost within the pages immediately. I found myself turning the pages quickly, but didn't know if this was a good reaction. I was searching for truth and knowledge about infinity. Since the band, Dream Theater, is one of my favorites, I thought this book had to be great! I was disappointed by the lack of aesthetics that would be expected from a book like this. The statement, "And we all die young" (oh, was that THIS book?) was kinda biased. I didn't really get what I was searching for from this book. Although, I must say it was very well written, but I think a bit more time and effort could have been added to the content. It should contain more info about how to obtain 'infinity'!I was left feeling empty and numb after finishing the book. |
