5.0 out of 5 stars Smooth and soothing, March 18, 2000
By
Karl E. Balsara (Columbia, MD USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dream Walk (Audio CD)
This album is awesome. I own 7 of Keiko Matsui's albums and this one is far and away my favorite. It is smooth and soothing all the way through, there are no vocals anywhere, and unlike some other albums, this one just gets better with every listen. Traditional Japaneese influences have featured largely in Keiko's music but with this album, she takes it to a whole new level. It is an almost new age feel that carries you through rolling tracks like Dream Walk, Presence of the Moon, and Tribal Boat. Bridge Over the Stars and A Cat on a Chimney maintain the jazz feeling while Mask and Valley simply knock you head over heels with their power. If you are a new fan of Keiko Matsui's music or contempory jazz in general, you should own this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Once again dreamy magical music, November 23, 2003
This review is from: Dream Walk (Audio CD)
There is something haunting, mystical, mysterious, and yet up front and straight out about Keiko Matsui's music. She is a constant dicotomy, which is enchanting and inspiring all at the same time.

Dream Walk is as wonderful as the rest of her albums. The songs run the gamut of emotion and themes from bubbling cheery to haunting whispers of a dark night's mist rising.

Add this to your collection of Keiko if you are a fan. If you aren't a fan, you might want to start with Shaphire or her Live Album to get a well-rounded taste of the magic. This album is great for easy listening, inspiring listening, and eating dinner or just relaxing with a good book. She's done wonders again!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my favorite, May 14, 2005
This review is from: Dream Walk (Audio CD)
This is an excellent album--very relaxing and uplifting. Very different from the general run of "stuff" you hear nowdays.

I've called this my "favorite album I do not own". I've checked it out from the library for years because I could not find it for sale. Its time I had it. Thanks!! : )
