One of the best, if not THE best,
By Baz (Manchester, England) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dreamcrafting: The Art of Dreaming Big, the Science of Making It Happen (Paperback)
I seldom write reviews, but in the case of 'Dreamcrafting' I'm compelled to make an exception. Over the past few years, I've read them all, the classics and the also rans. Without doubt this is a contender for first place in the success-self/help literature stakes. Why? Because the process is demystified, clarified and amplified with NO HYPE AND NO BULL!
At the heart of the book is an explanation of how attitudes towards making dreams come true are conditioned by a severely pessimistic society/culture - how expectations really do influence outcomes. There's also a discussion on how to maintain motivation over the long haul and gaining support from others. If you're serious about living with passion, this book is not just a must read, it's an essential toolkit. It will show you that whatever your dream, the realisation of the dream is down to developing skillpower, not willpower. An intelligent and perceptive take on the subject and destined to become a classic.

Dream Crafting,
By A Customer
This review is from: Dreamcrafting: The Art of Dreaming Big, the Science of Making It Happen (Paperback)
Dream Crafting gave me EXACTLY what it said it would on the cover of the book! Not only does it help in defining a precise dream, but gives you the basic 5 skills to achieve it. Like most everyone else, I have read several books on dreams, goals, and how to achieve them, but I really ENJOYED this book. It was not a chore to "get through", nor does it confuse the issue either, making the reader struggle to get anything out of it. Dream Crafting not only covers all the basics, but goes SEVERAL important steps further! It imcompasses total issues that I didn't realize were missing until I read it! Has your life drastically changed since the last book you've read on dreaming big, the how, what and why?? Are you any closer to YOUR dream since reading it???? I sincerely urge you to read one more book on the subject! DREAM CRAFTING! It covers it all..and goes further than that by drawing YOU into the equation.

Practical Advice for Realizing Your Big Dream,
By Stephen M. Stohs (Richmond, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dreamcrafting: The Art of Dreaming Big, the Science of Making It Happen (Paperback)
Dreamcrafting is a book I can recommend without reservation to anyone who seeks guidance in aligning their behavior with their aspirations. The authors offer testimonials of their personal experiences and those of others who had the vision to define goals which expressed their personal values, the courage to pursue them, and the persistence to see them through to their realization. The book begins with an analysis of the key reasons that people fall short of reaching their Big Dream. The authors then identify five macroskills which are crucial for overcoming the obstacles to success. The book goes on to explore these macroskills in depth, offering the reader practical suggestions for overcoming internal and external resistance, maintaining motivation, garnering support, and seeing a big project through to its successful completion. I truly believe the breadth of perspective and inspirational advice offered in this book has the power to change lives for the better. My only regret after finishing the book is that I did not have the chance to do so twenty years sooner.

Perfect 4 those who don't know! Perfect for those who forgot,
By A Customer
This review is from: Dreamcrafting: The Art of Dreaming Big, the Science of Making It Happen (Paperback)
Unlike many other books in this genre, I found Dreamcrafting an easy read; great humor, great advice, great logic, and great directions. There is a lot of truth in this book, I think everyone will recognize how simple acheiving their dreams can be--after reading Dreamcrafting, it's only a matter of "DOING". This book is PRACTICAL, INSPIRATIONAL, and easily RECOGNIZABLE. It is PRACTICAL in the sense that there are only 5 macroskills the reader must keep in mind. It is INSPIRATIONAL because, not only have the authors acheived their dreams, but they show how historical figures used these skills to acheive theirs. And finally it is RECOGNIZABLE in the sense that every reader can, and will, either recognize the things that are holding him back from acheiving, or the things that he is already doing right. Many people go through life with big dreams, but can't seem to get there. Others may have acheived their dreams using these macroskills without ever knowing it, but over time they change, or acheive that one dream and forget how to aspire. This book offers practical advice on how to break habits that are killing your dream, and then how to build new ones that will bring you to where you want to be.

This book is helping me make my dream come true.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Dreamcrafting: The Art of Dreaming Big, the Science of Making It Happen (Paperback)
This book works. It is a down to earth guide that has already had an impact on me. I followed the process and found an answer I've always had trouble with...how to fit my dream of starting a business into all the responsibilities I have as the mother of two boys. What's practical about Dreamcrafting is that being busy is taken into account. Giving gifts to my future self, time relaease motivators, being my own nay sayer...just a few of the really great suggestions. Living with one foot in tomorrow makes so much sense. After reading the book, I realized that I was being hooked to yesterday (fear). I'm referring this book to friends and by writing this review (a first for me) I guess I'm recommending it to you. Dreamcrafting is easy to read but more importantly really practical and exciting to implement. I've transformed what was a cloudy fantasy into a well defined dream that's on its way to becoming a reality. I'm feeling better about day to day commitments because I've let go of many things that weren't really necessary. And like the book promised, I'm starting to grow by letting go. Once my dream was focused, the proposed next steps just fell into place. So far so good.

Wow! Helpful book,
By Nicole (Cortland, NY USA) - See all my reviews

I wasn't sure how good a book on achieving personal dreams could be. I have read some similar books in the past and they were very technical and sometimes hard to follow. This book helps people achieve their goals from beginnning to end. The anecdotes the authors use to illustrate points help the reader understand different concepts. Also, the Dreamcrafters' Profiles really add a fun element to the reading. I would recommend this book to anyone, especially as a gift or for people who know what they want to do in life but would like a little help in getting there.

Helped Me Realize Goals,
By A Customer
This review is from: Dreamcrafting: The Art of Dreaming Big, the Science of Making It Happen (Paperback)
Even though i am not an adult my grandfather read this book and made me read it when i was at his house because he said it would give me direction in life. After reading it i became more dedicated toward my school work and to getting into a good college because it helped me realize that those were my immediate goals to be met. The analogies really help those who dont have a great knowledge about psychology. It also gave me the skills to help me realize my goals. One skill in the book that i particularly like is about someone my age who puts vocab onto tape so that when he is doing yardwork he is still able to study for his tests. It also tells the reader of other Dreamcrafters and how they made their dreams come true through hard times. The reason i prefer this to the other selfhelp books my grandfather made me read is because it is not written by someone who tries to seem better then you. It contains many jokes and is extremely easy to read and understand. I recommend Dreamcrafting to all.
