When I saw the director's name I instantly knew I wanted to give this game a try. I played the Longest Journey back in 2002 and got Dreamfall when it came out.
I didn't really like the new battle aspect of the second game, but I'm willing to try this one. Though from the website I didn't know that this game is going to be something you buy instead of like those MMO's that you download.
I hope it's good.

Longest Journey was one of the best games I've ever played. The story was great, the music was awesome, I was sad when I got to the end. Like you, Dreamfall let me down with the combat. My problem with this game is that it's Funcom, and they'll promise you the world and deliver a thimble. After getting dupped by Age of Conan, I swore I'd never play Funcom again. I'll wait for the reviews after launch to decide.

The game is good so far. Can't tell a lot from beta, but it's very complex, full, rich... it's a bit overhyped, but they're putting a ton of effort into it; they know how AOC was received and they don't want a repeat. As I've said in other posts I think it's chief weakness is going to be the endgame. If everyone has access to the same exact set of powers, even if there are 500 of them it'll very likely come down to a handful of optimal builds. Upside is that you could play any "class" archetype without rolling and advancing a new character.

I would strongly suggest preordering and getting into the beta so you can try it out before you are forced to pay for it. Either that or wait for the release and read the reviews.

The game is nothing like what it promises in terms of freedom of play.
