Product Description

Color: Ivory

Why do you always seem to spill drinks at the worst possible time? You've got important papers on your desk and then someone or something knocks over your drink and creates a giant mess when you least have time to deal with it. But who doesn't love having a coffee on their desk while they work? Or want to have a water bottle handy? Whether it's your favourite takeaway coffee or a glass of juice, Spink simply sticks to your table and holds your drink so it can't be knocked over. Made with a shock-resistant shell and a lever-powered suction cup to lock your drink in place, Spink was also designed to be as unique as you. Slip your favourite photo inside it, draw on it with markers, make it yours. Don't give up what you love, have it next to you and Spink will make sure you never spill another drink.

Was a bit surprised at the size, it seemed larger than expected, but overall it was GREAT.

The picture frame cover doesn't lock on, and slides off easily.

The concept is great, but the suction cup on the bottom can't get a good grip on the wood grain of my desk. The product description should probably indicate that it needs a smooth completely flat surface in order to work. I am using it and it provides enough weight and balance to keep me from tipping over my narrow-at-the-bottom-wide-at-the-top mugs, so I will give it a 4.

In other news, I wrote to the company about the silly wire lock inside and they wrote this back:

"Thanks for your email. I'm sorry to hear that there have been some negative comments made about the Spink hangtag. After receiving your email I did go onto the Amazon website and read the Spink reviews. One of the reviewers has been considerate enough to provide a simple set of instructions for removing the hangtag which proves to be accurate.

"The hangtag is our old packaging which was once featured on all our products. We've been transferring our products over to new, boxed packaging which allows us to eliminate the hangtag. Unfortunately, Spink is still in old packaging and most online stores that stock Dreamfarm don't mind selling products in this form.

"We encourage customers to contact our customer service if they are experiencing any difficulties with removing the hang tag.

"Here is a step-by-step guide to removing the hang tag:

* Hold the wire on one side with your thumb and forefinger.

* Push it down through the hole until you see one of the round cap tops emerge. You are effectively unplugging it - sometimes one side is more "stuck" than the other, so if you have trouble, try the other hole.

* Twist the cap until it unscrews. It should come right off.

I dumped a full can of soda onto both laptops on my desk at work. they survived, but at that point I realized i needed this item. I got a boxed one so i didn't have to deal with the metal wire people are talking about here. The holder is incredibly robust for what it is intended to do. Very high quality. It comes with a thick clear plastic sleeve that goes over the holder. This is for photos and customizing the holder. A unnecessary piece in my opinion, and I hope that this didn't drive the price up as I will never use this.

The suction cup is the size of the entire holder so when you lock it down, it's quite secure. I've found that different surfaces create different suction strengths and suction lasting time. My glass top desk at home for example - I practically had to kick the holder off the desk to get it to release. However at work - I've had it release on it's own in less than 1 day's time. I've found if you get the suction cup a little wet - it holds much better.

You will most likely say what I said which is "all this so my beverage doesn't move"? because, as I mentioned this thing is built like a tank.

Once I got it and settled in me and co-workers took turns hitting it to see if we could make it spill the drink. It held fast to our abuse. They laugh about it now, and smack it when they walk by so the "suction time" is an issue for me and I have to check it at least 1 time per day.

Overall - a cool practical, if not overbuilt, gizmo for something that seems like a "non problem" until it happens!

I saw this product on a morning NBC talk show and was immediately reminded of my son's nightmare call from college one night. A friend of his knocked a loosely capped water bottle onto the keyboard area of his less than one month old very expensive laptop. Can we say "fried" in less than 30 seconds?! Luckily, through my work, a good IT friend of mine had a contact at that computer brand name's headquarters. The computer was repaired but a lot of data was lost. I then thought about an unsteady 70+ senior friend of mine who always has a cup of coffee or another drink near his keyboard.....and I could see another accident waiting to happen! The box arrived at his house but the instructions to safely secure it to the tabletop are under three different languages on the inside lid of the box...none of which are English. The generalized ad info about the product on the outside of the box are English but those did not instruct him about pushing properly from the inside of the cup to secure it. Yep, I had to drive to his house to show him how to use it....but hey? What are friends for!:-)!

Having spilled drinks on desks in the past, this is exactly what I was looking for. The lock mechanism was easy to remove (while holding the plastic wire holder, slide up one of the wire cables and unscrew the nut on the end) and I like the fact it will not budge from my desk. The plastic cover for a picture (or whatever) seems a little overkill but provides something a little different than an ordinary frame.

I bought this for my sister who is now working from home. She has said that the cup is not as functional as you would think.

Have it attached to a surface that extends from under our mattress on one side. It holds a can of soda during evening TV-watching in bed. Soda hasn't spilled yet. Holder is easy to clean, too.
