Like others who have ordered the product, initially I was extremely excited, and even then more happy after tasting it. It really does taste just like "real" pasta! The reason for this, of course, is that it IS real pasta, made from the same semolina wheat that you would get in a non "low-carb" product.

After reading an indictment of the product at dietdoctor(dot)com(slash)the-dreamfields-pasta-fraud, I was not only disappointed at this product but extremely angry. I am a low-carb dieter, not a diabetic, so perhaps my consequence is only falling out of ketosis and having to redo the Atkins induction phase. But if this is not really low carb, why is it being promoted that way? I may as well eat the real stuff and save about 70% on the ridiculous markup.

Dreamfields, I am very, VERY disappoint.

I have used Dreamfields Healthy Carb Living pastas for over a year now. I like the taste of whole wheat pastas, but some people don't or they don't want to eat it all the time. If you are a low-carber (or not) who misses the regular semolina pasta with all the full-carb taste, then this pasta is definitely for you. It tastes Sooooo good! I have tried all of the shapes, and they are all great. No more waiting for special occasions or treats to get the high-carb taste you love. With 1 gram fat, 5 grams fiber (4g soluble/1g insoluble), 7 grams protein, and only 5 grams digestible carbs, you can't go wrong buying this great product.

Dreamfields is great for those who have diabetes or metabolic or insulin resistance, or people who want to eat low-glycemic, low-carb, Atkins, Body for Life, etc. Macaroni and Cheese, Lasagna, Meatballs and Spaghetti, Linguine with Clam Sauce, Penne Primavera--endless possibilities for low-carb meals, now. I can't wait for other shapes to be introduced (hint, hint)--fettucine, cavatappi, orzo, angel hair, and on and on.

This product's written description does not accurately reflect the total carb count. It is higher. While it is a bit lower than traditional pasta, it is not "low." I would like to clearly see the total grams and the net grams (adjusted for fiber and sugar alcohols) posted for other consumers, so they know what to expect.

This great tasting pasta is a diabetic's Godsend! Being a Type 2 Diabetic, I am always looking for ways to reduce my carb intake. Up till now that has meant avoiding pasta completely since a single serving of normal pasta has about 35 - 40 carbs. This has been one of the biggest impacts to my diet as we love Italian cooking. I was not sure about Dreamfields' claim to only have 5 carbs, but we gave it a try anyway.

After having a full serving, my blood sugar levels only took a modest rise, about what I would have expected from 5 carbs (plus the 15 others from the rest of the meal)!

It does cost more than regular pasta, but it is worth it to me to be able to eat pasta again.

Highly Recommended!

dreamfields pastas taste great, even better than regular pasta, cheap price, easily available , but I don't like the confusing statement of digestable carbs 5, that is not net carbs, I ate them during my Atkins diet and I stopped losing weight and was bloated like after regular carbs.. so I looked at the box and found that they are not low in carbs, almost like the regular pasta, they could be low GI pasta but not low carb, I should have known from the price... so if you are not on low carb diet you can have them.

When I first tried this product I was very excited. The prospect of a great tasting pasta at a low price was a very attractive thought to me. When I first received the product, upon reading the product label I became very suspicious. They claim that a large part of the carbs in their pasta is not absorbed because it is somehow bound to a protein. I was wondering to myself what kind of protein would render a carbohydrate indigestible and also not break down secondary to stomach acids and pancreatic enzymes.

When I started digging for testing supporting their claim I came across the following article. [...]. As you can see, testing by the ADA shows that the glycemic response of dreamfields pasta is exactly the same as that of regular pasta.

If you are trying to follow a low carb diet because you have diabetes or because you are trying to control your weight, this is not the product for you. A much better product would be FiberGourmet Bulk Elbow Macaroni box, 10-Pounds. With this product, a good portion of the carbs are truly indigestible fiber and this is reflected in the product label.

I would be very careful with this products claim. It says that most of the carbs are "protected" and wont spike blood sugars but studies have shown that when testing a group with this pasta and regular wheat pasta, the blood sugar spikes were the same. i would do my research first before purchasing the product. it can be doing harm (especially if you are pre-diabetic or diabetic). if you do buy it, stick to the serving and check your blood sugar levels 2 hours after eating it to see how your body responds to this. i did my own little experiment and ate regular pasta (2oz serving) and checked my blood sugar levels afterwards then waited and made this pasta and checked my blood sugar levels with the same time period and found that there was only 10 pt difference in my blood sugar level, and it wasn't a nice safe level either! if you dont have a metabolic disorder like glucose intolerance, or diabetes etc...then i would still make sure i limit this to its serving size and only as a treat since it still spikes blood sugar (at least in me and other studies) and might hinder your low-carb goals.
