5.0 out of 5 stars Diabetic who loves Dreamfields.
Who better than a diabetic to vouch for this product? Unlike most low-carbohydrate dieters, I test my blood sugar at least four times a day. I know how foods affect me. I have very tight control on my blood sugar; my readings are very predictable. Because of that, I know when foods have hidden carbohydrates in them.

2.0 out of 5 stars Massive Blood Sugar Spikes
Careful if you take fast acting insulin before meals. Those protected carbs must loose their protection sometime between dinner and waking up the next morning.

This happened three times, had two serving in a 60 carb dinner, went to bed with a blood sugar 140-150, but woke up with my glucose near 300!

Theory, the carbs took too long to digest and...

I experimented last year with Dreamfields. I paired one serving size of the spaghetti with an olive oil and garlic sauce and topped the dish with some Parmesan cheese. Because some diabetics complain of delayed spikes, I tested every hour for four hours just to make sure. Pre-meal: 69; 1 Hour: 62; 2 Hour: 73; 3 Hour: 82; 4 Hour: 69. As you can see, I returned to pre-meal levels by four hours and my third-hour reading was the highest, but the number wasn't high in itself. I have since eaten Dreamfields on two other occasions with similar results.

I think the key is restricting your portion size to that listed on the box. Cook al dente, as overcooking can weaken the protective coating that blocks the carbohydrates. Be mindful of the sauces you're using. Jarred tomato sauce is just full of sugar. I buy a jarred Alfredo that only has 1 gram of carbohydrates per serving. Pesto and olive-oil sauces are good options, too. Add a protein to your dish; that helps.

As far as taste goes: amazing. Tastes exactly like real pasta. No one in my family knew that it wasn't the 'real' stuff. I love that Dreamfields makes more than just spaghetti. I actually got to enjoy macaroni salad at my last family gathering thanks to Dreamfields.

5.0 out of 5 stars Low-carb pasta that tastes like PASTA!, October 16, 2008
This review is from: Dreamfields Spaghetti (Misc.)
It is almost too good to be true, but the stix (Atkins followers will know what I mean) don't lie: Dreamfields pasta won't mess with your low-carbing (or your lipolysis).

I've low-carbed for the better part of 9 years, and this is one of the few low-carb products that not only delivers, it does so without any concessions. The taste & texture are spot-on, and the non-dieters in your family won't raise an eyebrow. Of course, keep it in moderation, but do give it a try.

We can once again enjoy pasta and still feel good about the carbs we are eating. Dreamfields pastas cook and taste just like the high carb versions we used to eat.

5.0 out of 5 stars We love it!, February 25, 2010
This review is from: Dreamfields Spaghetti (Misc.)
We love Dreamfields pasta. I agree with other reveiws that one must pay attention to the serving size. For instance, the box of angel hair pasta is NOT a 16 oz box as one might be accustomed to using, it is 13.25 oz. and one box has 6.5 servings,or approximately 2 oz. of dry pasta per suggested serving. So one must be aware of how much pasta is on the plate! If you want to know just how Dreamfields works, do some research on the web. I always like to find articles that do not come directly from the manufacturer so I know they are not actually marketing materials. There are such articles about this pasta from various sources. I believe that it takes about 45 carbs to spike insulin, so do be careful about the sauce. A large serving of the pasta and a high-sugar sauce difinitely defeats the purpose. We cook ours 4 minutes and enjoy it regularly for a great tasting pasta. And in my family's opinion, it taste much better tasting than the whole wheat pastas available.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Pasta, January 4, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

This is excellent pasta. Tastes and cooks like regular pasta. I've been trying to eat whole grain pasta but don't really like it. So I'm glad I heard about this. I found that you can also buy it from [...]. It's cheaper and they only charge [...]shipping no matter how much you buy. I'm going to use the Amazon wishlist button the next time I order it. I did give me some gas later on. I read somewhere that means the food it getting digested in your colon and not in your intestine. I assume means the carbs are not getting asorbed and that is why this pasta is low net carb. I definitely plan to buy more Dreamfield pasta.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Low Carb Pasta! Highly Recommended, May 8, 2009
This review is from: Dreamfields Spaghetti (Misc.)
This great tasting pasta is a diabetic's Godsend! Being a Type 2 Diabetic, I am always looking for ways to reduce my carb intake. Up till now that has meant avoiding pasta completely since a single serving of normal pasta has about 35 - 40 carbs. This has been one of the biggest impacts to my diet as we love Italian cooking. I was not sure about Dreamfields' claim to only have 5 carbs, but we gave it a try anyway.

After having a full serving, my blood sugar levels only took a modest rise, about what I would have expected from 5 carbs (plus the 15 others from the rest of the meal)!

It does cost more than regular pasta, but it is worth it to me to be able to eat pasta again.

Highly Recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Delicious and Life Saving, August 9, 2009
This review is from: Dreamfields Spaghetti (Misc.)
Being a victim of diabetes, and a lover of pasta, this wonderful product made my life so much easier to deal with. At times, I eat more of this pasta than I should. My blood sugar does not rise at all. Of course this may not be the norm for every one. It tasts and has a texture of any major pasta maker.
