Product Description

Platform:  WINDOWS 95/98/ME/XP Publisher:  XS GAMES Packaging:  JEWEL CASE Rating:  TEEN You wake up face bandaged disoriented. You look around and to your horror discover you are in an institution. After a few discussions with your fellow patients you begin to realize you're in a living nightmare. You're in an insane asylum. You don't remember your name you can't see your face you have no idea why you are here and there is no one around who can answer your questions. So begins the journey of your self awareness. You traverse 13 completely different levels (nine major episodes/four sub-segments) of Sanitarium to find the truth about what happened to you. You must discover your past and in the process you stumble across a horrifying sinister plot which seems to be unfolding at each step of the way as you search for your identity. As your search continues you encounter many people and locations most of a decidedly freakish nature. Because of these encounters snippets of your memories come cascading into your brain in the guise of movie-style flashbacks.Sanitarium is a well paced good story set in an unsettlingly surreal environment with disturbing plot twists. In the tradition of true adventure gaming the plot grabs you and keeps you coming back for more if for no other reason than to find out what happens next. ~ Michael L. 5.0 out of 5 stars Best horror, adventure game, November 3, 2007
This review is from: Sanitarium (CD-ROM)
I am not much a gamer myself but Ive been played some very great adventure games that I would recommend anyone anyday. For example: Monkey Island Series, Grim Fandango, or Indigo Prophecy. This Sanitarium game give a whole different kind of adventure. It mingle well between sci-fi horror and pure point-and-click with amazing puzzles to be solved.

You woke up seeing yourself in a mental institute, next level you were a little bug, another you would be an Aztex soilder (not in any particular order) The scenery were eerie enough and exciting enough to keep you through all nine levels and keep you amazed until the end. The story unfold in your eyes and then make you wonder wow, it's over??? --or at least thats what I thought when I finished the game.

Get this game, I guarantee you won't be disappointed!

5.0 out of 5 stars Tales From The Darkside., March 24, 2009

If you remember that ol' 80's late night T.V. show called "Tales From The Darkside." That is the best way to describe this game. This game is a gem to dig up and play. They really need to update this game with todays stanards. I think it would be a hit, only if they did it right. But until then we have a game that has 1998 graphics. Point and click controls. Puzzle solving. Bizzare story line. All this makes it a great "weird" game and thats good! The story is that you are in a car accident and wake up in a sanitarium not knowing anything about yourself. So you go about talking to other people, if you can call them that, trying to piece your memory back to sanity. Or are you dreaming. Or are you really crazy? (Don't call me crazy) I didn't call you crazy, you called yourself crazy. (I didn't say that, YOU DID!) I'M NOT CRAZY!!!!!! Yep folks, that's Sanitarium and by looking at the other 5 star ratings, I think that speeks for itself like the voices in my head. So order Sanitarium before they put the straight jacket on you and you end up playing the game with your toes. That's my review! This is Hopscotch saying,,,,, BLLLAAAHHHH!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Game, December 1, 2009

= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Sanitarium (CD-ROM)
While a bit tough, Sanitarium is one of the most amazing and fun games ever. Most would say the replay value is pretty low, but I've played it over and over and I love it. Not to mention it's long enough that trying to play it all in one go is pretty difficult. Some of the puzzles are difficult, but none are so incredibly hard that there's no way you can figure it out without a walkthrough. I adore this game, I would recommend it to anyone who likes something a little offbeat.
