Exceptional Story!,
By
This review is from: Dreaming of Deliverance (Paperback)
This novel had me hooked from the very beginning. I am not usually a fan of Fantasy novels, but this one is different. The story contains strong and unique characters, unusual circumstances and a fast pace that made it impossible to put down. It is part mystery, thriller, romance and drama. Even at over 500 pages, I was not ready for the story to end and was left thinking about it for many days. R.E. Chambliss has a gift for creating characters with depth, imaginative, yet believable worlds, and a story to care about. I highly recommend this book and can't wait for the sequel.

Move Over Thomas Covenant...,
By
This review is from: Dreaming of Deliverance (Kindle Edition)
...Lindsay Paulson is traveling. In the tradition of Burroughs' Mars series and Stephen Donaldson's Thomas Covenent, Lindsay Paulson finds herself being engaged in another world--one where her unique skills, talents, and outlooks allow her to learn and grow.
Chambliss does a great job in developing her parallel worlds and setting up the tension between the two. She does an excellent job developing her characters, unfolding the plot, and keeping this story moving forward at a breakneck pace. Once I started, I just couldn't stop. Chambliss is one of the many undiscovered gems! Give her work a try. You won't regret it. Nathan Lowell Creator of the Golden Age of the Solar Clipper

I was hooked from the first page! The vivid descriptions of the alternate world made me feel as if I were there, experiencing each of the communities for myself. I lost myself in Lindsay's emotions and struggles. Dreaming of Deliverance is an original, well-woven story not to be missed!

I don't normally create a review, but I just had to in this case.
I stumbled upon R. Chambliss quite by accident in the spring of 2009 while looking for some free audiobooksm (well, podcasts - check out podiobooks.com) I could download to my iPod. She was the narrator for someone else's book (Dead Hunt by Kenn Crawford in case you were wondering) and has a great storytelling voice IMHO. Anyhow, she piqued my interest enough and decided to see what she had written and stumbled upon this little gem. I'm not sure if Renee is a first time novelist or not. But, if she is, she's certainly hit the ground running (ummmm...no pun intended...lol). I won't get into the synopsis of Dreaming of Deliverance because it's already been done. Just suffice it to say that I really, really, really enjoyed this story so much that I just recently downloaded it to my Kindle and am almost finished with it. And, you know what, I'm enjoying it just as much as I did the first time around and I NEVER read a book more than once in a several year span, let alone twice within one year! (ok...so, one of those times I was actually listening. You get the point...lol) Anyhow, you just have to read this book. Not just to support a new writer, but because it...is...that...GOOD! I can't wait for the sequel!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book! The characters are well drawn, and I was hooked into their struggles and successes from the beginning. R.E. Chambliss has a wonderful way with words. The descriptive passages are so vivid I felt I was there, and the suspense is so powerful I had trouble putting the book down. I'm definitely looking forward to the sequel! Thanks, R.E., for taking me on a marvelous fantasy tour!

I thought this book was fantastic! It had interesting characters that really drew me in and a plot that moved at a great pace. It was imaginative, suspenseful, and compelling. I'd read a chapter or two and couldn't wait to get back to see what happened next. I love books that engage your emotions and draw you into the story and this book does exactly that. It's one of those books that you are sad to see end because you just want more, more, more! I am eagerly anticipating the sequel and can't wait to read more of Lindsay's adventures!

I cannot wait for Linds to get back to Trae...,

I couldn't put this one down and I am wishing there was another one already! I love the mix of fantasy and the real life struggles of the characters. The story smoothly interweaves visits to another world with the bleak reality of prison and makes it believable! Good character development, lots of surprises and great imagery. Chambliss has a knack for describing places and emotions so well that I was aching when Lindsay was beaten, tired from running 30 miles to Guin and breathless in the midst of a passionate embrace. (Oh! The love scenes---wow!---not a book for younger readers---beautifully done with style and intensity.) I was also impressed with her use of vocabulary and intricate use of language. Personally, I was rooting for a different ending but with inter-dimensional travel there is always room to re-arrange circumstances, right??? Definitely check it out...

Let the Story Take you Away...,

In a million years, if anyone told me I'd like this story, I'd think they were insane. Fantasy? Prison? Nah...not for me.
Lucky for me, I listened to some trusted friends who know what I like to read and told me I'd love it. I thought they were insane, figured I could go ahead and buy it, and in the end I did...I did love it! I was hooked, for that matter. Actually stayed up until 2 am one work night because I couldn't put it down. I eventually did, only because I fell asleep by accident. I was exhaused, but addicted. I have three small kids and typically wake at 5 am for work. This story is heartwarming, touching, and though it sounds odd to say, grounded. I thought it would surely be "out there" but it wasn't. My only wish, is that there was a sequal out there! |
