Review

Through Gentry's unique voice, countless readers will discover modern day relevance to the idea of awakening and undertake the journey from fear to love. (Larry Dossey, M.D., Best selling author, The Power of Premonitions and Healing Words) Through the voice of Maya, known the world over as the Goddess of Illusion, Gentry puts the light back into enlightenment while providing the understanding we need to access deep change and growth. Maya's teachings, based on universal truths and ancient wisdom, come in the deceptively simple form of twelve keystones. A wonderful read. (Lynn Andrews, Bestselling author of Medicine Woman Series)

~ Dreaming Down Heaven ~ Reviewed by Miriam Knight

"I must admit that I was a bit skeptical at first about using a fantasy novel to convey Toltec teachings, but boy was I wrong. A dreamscape is the perfect vehicle for getting you out of your head and into the real spirit of the teachings, and Gini Gentry does it with such gusto that you are swept along into the dream along with all your own stuff, that keeps popping up as you read along. The story is about Gigi, a gal who has hit the bottom of her emotional and financial reserves after a painful divorce from a rock star. She answers an ad for a manager of a small rural theater, and when she arrives she finds herself in the company of a whole class of "angels in training" who are put through a spiritual boot camp by the formidable Maya, mistress of illusion, ably assisted by God(frey).

As you romp through the human drama to acquire the twelve keystones of life wisdom, it is impossible not to reflect on them in the context of your own history and habits of thought. By embedding them in story, their meaning is brought home to you with more personal impact than just reading them in a spiritual text. The truth of ideas like, "you are the playwright of your own life," or "your perceptions create your reality" seeps into your subconscious without effort. I believe this book can be a delightfully transformativeexperience for its readers. Warmly recommended."

Two, two, two books in one! (And they're both fabulous, I can't decide which I like best!) A must-read for anyone even remotely considering why we are here, this book is a dream, and that's not a pun. Gini Gentry is funny and hip and tells this story in her own brilliant fashion. Once you start reading, you won't want to stop. And you will have to stop every once in a while to catch your breath at the beauty of it. 'Dreaming Down Heaven' is a labor of Love. Every page gives reason to pause, contemplate, savour. There is so much love in this book, so much juice, so much that opened my eyes and my heart to a deeper understanding of myself, of love. It's yummy! 'Dreaming Down Heaven' is easy to read and fun, and it's written so brilliantly, as a beautiful story, with a beautiful companion book, chapters one and chapters two. You will want to buy it for everyone you love for Christmas! (I have at least 20 folks on my list, like the year I gave 'Gift from the Sea' (Lindberg) or 'Illusions', (Bach), this is a book that is deeply meaningful, lovingly insightful, deliriously funny and touching, a book you will read again and again and again. I can't wait to share it with all my friends.

Ok, you have yet another Toltec-ian in the Don Miguel Ruiz tradition. To convey her wisdom the author chooses some characters like Maya, the wise one who knows most everything, and Gigi, the young woman struggling with her addictions who is looking up to Maya and tripping over herself. Think Don Juan and Carlos but as a soap opera and the genders changed. Then dumb it down and you are coming close. When Gigi's body is not feeling like 'warm chocolate' she slowly unravels her blindness in her failed marriage trying to save Kevin from his own substance abuse.

Honestly, guys won't even bother to crack this one open. It's definitely meant as mystical soap-opera ('Magical Theatre') and this one is for the girls. (And there are even some cheesy love scenes just to keep the ladies interested.) If you have not really started your own journey of awakening and you are female this one might be ok. But if you are looking for any teachings here that you can get without having to read like a dozen pages getting past the prose, then you might want to skip. Instead, you should start with her teacher Don Miguel Ruiz as in The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom (A Toltec Wisdom Book)

Part of the problem with most things being touted as 'Toltec' these days is that they are VERY disconnected from any real indigenous tradition. You have to take their word for it that it is anything remotely associated to the Toltecs and Tulan from history.

Gini Gentry is that rare author who, through a thoughtful and entertaining story, is able to speak to the many levels in each of us that must be awakened if we are to empower the highest potential of our personal wellness. We hear increasingly of rising rates of chronic illness, debilitating disability, and destructive mental illness. It is easy to feel overwhelmed and hopeless in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles to well being, with a health care system limited in its ability to provide for the deep desire people have for wholeness. The story of Gigi, and the counsel of her guide-the Goddess of Illusion Maya-is an invitation to all of us to wake up,transcend our limitations, and commit to full engagement in our lives. This is a book to give to everyone you care about!

In this book, Gini Gentry has taken ageless principles and has made them not only easy to understand, but to implement in our everyday life as well. For me, Dreaming Down Heaven is a blend of Harry Potter meets the way of the Peaceful Warrior... all wrapped up into one great story. I love Dreaming Down Heaven!

I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to interview Gini for [...]. This is one beautiful woman and the book is a great read.

I've actually read this book several times and each time I feel a deep inner peace more profound than the last. Somehow this book wakes me up and soothes my soul...makes me feel like all my quirks and places where I buy into the myth of my imperfection are just that...a myth.
